Quite helpful, but...
A nice short text to help you try and avoid making a buying mistake.Good overall advice on buying any used car...but seems to fall short on listing the known problem areas for these complex cars.I'm glad I bought it, but if you're looking to buy an XJ, I would recommend you thoroughly peruse the Jaguar owner forums for info on known problem areas (air suspension, throttle body sensor, headlight units, etc.) and more importantly, what it will cost to fix those issues here in the U.S.

Not enough Jaguar XJ specifics.
As a Jaguar enthusiast and former Jaguar owner, I was generally disappointed by this book. I was really hoping for a more detailed explanation of the design development and then the differences and improvements made through the production run of these Jaguar XJs.The book was written strictly for the European market and did not speak to the various models and trim levels in the US market. The book failed to discuss a number of common problems with these cars. Specifically, problems unique to the Supercharged versions cooling hoses, sagging headliners, sunroof tracks corrosion, etc.. Jaguar online forums are a much better source of information for potential buyers. Overall, I'd say this book is an OK general guide for buying a used car with a few details specific to the Jaguar XJ. INCREDIBLY overpriced for what you get.

Only Jaguar XJ8 Book You'll Need
Outstanding guide to buying an XJ8. Every area of the car is covered in depth with highly useful tips on evaluating a used car. Using this book as a guide, I found a nearly perfect 2008 XJ8 that was properly maintained and that looked and performed as new. This is the book to get if you're looking for a 2004 - 2008 XJ8.

The One Book You Need If Shopping for a Jaguar XJ
This is exactly what I was looking for. It has detailed explanations of what to look for for each model and year. Great book.

Don't waste your time and money
Less than 5% of this book is specific to the cars named in the title. The rest is just filler, consisting of basic advice that applies to all cars. Don't waste your time and money.

OK, but like all guides in this series much of the information is duplicated
Like all these guides, there is a lot of same information in each book e.g. checking documents etc.The actual model specific information is good, but only occupies at most 50% of the book. However, if you are after an XJ saloons the information is very useful.

Mostly generic advice
Real disappointment. Much of the advice was generic used car stuff, and the X350 specific advice was far from comprehensive. You will get far less from this book than from stickies on various Jaguar forums.

Useful but a lot of general car buying info that most people should know. Having said that there is some useful model specific info and I found the air suspension section helpful. Worth buying if you are thinking of buying any of the models covered . I will take this with me when I go and look at an XJ8.

Nice introductory guide
Affordable and accessible - Beware this is not an in-depth mechanical document, still gives you a place at what the car is about.
