How bad is the coil wine? I have my pc under my desk and headphones on. Im upgrading for an index but want to know how bad the wine is first.

Hi, I'm well-informed on this question because I was actually able to try two of these cards, both of which had about the same amount of coil whine. The coil whine is somewhat subtle. It will be the loudest thing if you have extremely quiet fans, but if your fans are even a little bit louder than "extremely quiet", it will likely drown out the coil whine. You will NOT hear the coil whine if you have closed-back headphones because those are good at blocking high frequencies, so this is only a concern if you are gaming with speakers. Also, I found out I can use MSI Afterburner to lower the Power Limit to 90%, which reduces the coil whine sound quite dramatically while resulting in literally only 2 fps decrease of performance. You can also reduce it to 71% which makes it practically inaudible, which will result in approximately 8% or so decrease in performance. I believe the extreme variation of opinions on whether a particular card has coil whine, isn't necessarily due to actual variance in the card itself, but rather different people having different standards and different amount of fan noise. I just found out in my old PC which I already considered quiet (but was not as quiet as my new build), my GTX 760 actually did have some coil whine which I never noticed until recently. It's very likely that simply all modern GPU's have coil whine and some people don't notice or have louder fans. By the way, I tried to get a case with "quiet" design to reduce the coil whine, but it was NOT worth it. The lack of airflow from the quiet design causes the fans to spin much higher; the extra noise from the fans even through the somewhat sealed case will override any benefits you get from insulating coil whine sound, at least for this particular GPU. Especially if you wear headphones which already block the same high frequencies.

Does it comes with a driver CD?

No, Windows 10 will provide a driver automatically. You can also download latest drivers from GeForce.com which is better than using drivers from a CD.

Will this run 3440x1440?

It will run fine but it depends on what game your playing, more demanding titles will run a solid 40-70fps on ultra, if you just want to max out game settings, but it will run fine

How do you control the rgb lighting on the fan side of the card?

You need to download the “dragon” software from MSI’s site. That includes all the software you need including “mystic eye” which controls all of the card lighting. The standalone “mystic eye” software meant for the motherboards won’t work. Feel free to look up Rayzerchick on YouTube. I’ll be posting a build video using that very card.
