My 2 year can do sign language because of these dvd's
I bought these for my 1yr old at the time, because he was born with a "pit" on his ear, which is a symptom that he may have hearing problems in the future. His ear dr. suggested that he see a specialist if I think he is not progressing with his speech as he should. I think he is progressing just fine. He is very talkative and learning new words everyday. I got this just to help expand his growing vocabulary. I wasn't even aware that it taught sign language, but my son picked it up so well. Yes, it is not super animated and looks like it was done in the 90's, but what does that matter to a kid. It is extremely repetitive, but that is how kids learn. At 1 years old(almost 2), he picked up 5 sign language words that he still uses almost daily. The dvds didn't last long because as baby's do, he got a hold of them one day and decided to slide them all across the floor. But I recently just reorder the same set because of the sign language he caught on too. Very satisfied. At 2 years old he knows how to say monkey, bird, frog, eat, and cow in sign language. I'm sure he would have learned more, if not for the ruing of the set, but still not bad.

I ordered these cause the reviews were good enough and the price was great
Ordered this for my 19 month old boy to encourage him to talk more. He knows words but chooses not to speak much.I ordered these cause the reviews were good enough and the price was great. You get a pack of DVDs over other higher rated DVDs for just 1. I figured it was worth a try.I do agree with other reviews it is slightly outdated and seems like a family project but it does keep my toddler engaged. I play them when he eats or playing in the background.I can handle the cheesiness of them because they are ment for children. My issue is the choice of words they use. I feel like they should introduce the word "truck" or "car" before they introduce "fire truck". For the main DVD vocabulary, I wished they focused on basic words your toddler is likely to say based on common things most kids have or encounter. Words like: ball, play, bed or sleep, shoes, keys, phone, bath, food, car etc. Also in the body parts DVD, wish they'd introduce basic parts of the face before parts likes: knees or eye brows.Overall satisfied for the price.

Excellent product and amazing price
My son is soon 3 years old with speech delays. He has improved with speech therapy, but I always look for things I can do the days he does not receive therapy. So I looked for something that will entertain him and also be educational, this video does both. Kids like to see other kids speak not only adults and this video have both which for me is a plus. I love the bonus CDs which I can play in the car so my son can hear these songs as we drive. But what I love the most about that this package is so economical. With the money I saved I bought flash cards and posters that will help him more. I did not get this free I actually paid, I'm reviewing so that others can know you'll get your money's worth.

When they notice that she did not seem happy with 3 y
My 18-month old daughter talks more than most kids her age because of this product. She loves watching the videos. Twice in two different schools/daycare she was moved to 2-3 years old because they thought she is close to 3 y.o. because she knows her words and talks a lot. The first time she was moved to a different classroom from her 1 y.o. to 24 months was when she was only 14 months old. When they notice that she did not seem happy with 3 y.olds they checked her records and realized that she was only 14 months old. Then they told me she really talks a lot and knows her words so we thought she was older.

Seems almost like an introductory teaser set
Seems almost like an introductory teaser set, nothing really comprehensive. My grandson is in the First Steps program getting help in delayed development especially speech. The significance of this is that he has had interactive experience with listening & repeating. He brought me the Beginning Sign Language disc a day ago. He then arranged himself much as he would with the actual therapist and remained in one spot and repeated each and every word, and many of the sound effects, for 24 minutes before moving on. 24 minutes is a long time in a 30 month old's life. My main point is nothing works in a vacuum. You have to lay the foundation before any of these enrichment things bear fruit. (Hey, 3 metaphors but who's counting?) So, no Magic DVDs nut not useless, either. I paid $16.95.

Can't wait to get started!
It's difficult to review this item because you may never know the true results of the product. That being said, it certainly can't hurt! Children start learning at a very young age and this set is fun and keeps the babies attention. When my son was born, we just made basic flash cards out of index cards and my husband spent a few minutes everyday going through some of them while my son set in the carrier. He grew up to be a math wizard. So I can't wait to see if our grandson will learn sign language and be an English whiz.

but I feel like the videos did help encourage her to speak
My daughter has been watching these for a few months and has increases her vocabulary quite a bit. She's 17 months old and can speak about 100 words or more. She's even begun to put together two word phrases. We do read a lot too, but I feel like the videos did help encourage her to speak. She doesn't ever sit and attentively watch TV, but she sits and watches these.
