Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy, Enhanced

As usual, Cengage have overpriced their mediocre books. To make it worse, as someone has already mentioned, the Kindle editions comes with neither a product key or access code so watching the recommended videos is not possible. In my case, I had no choice but to buy the Kindle edition. I live in the Middle East in a country that is very restrictive of the materials it allows in. Psychology and religion are two of the most banned materials. Rather than take a chance by ordering the print edition hoping it would get past the censors, it's easier to buy the electronic edition which can be downloaded over a VPN connection. Having access to the video and other materials available with the product code and/or access key might have made this experience better.

I have rated this book 4 stars not because the content was great, but because the insight gained into the secular humanistic mindset of counseling is very useful for a shepherd of God’s household. This book has been useful in giving insights as to how the natural man chooses to completely distort the causes of much mental distress many people encounter in this fallen world. Therefore, I will be all the more alert to the schemes that are known to me as the doctrines of demons, that is that which is antithetical to God’s word and the doctrines taught within it.

Love this book! Bought it for my masters level class and it has been very informative. All of the theories and approaches are covered in depth. I did have to find follow up information on the theories, but, it covers the basics.

For beginning counseling students or those just interested in counseling theory, this book does a wonderful job of touching on each theory and giving just enough information about each theory to gain a good understanding. I definitely recommend!

At first, the book sounded expensive at $97. For my class, it was worth every penny.

This book has Great theories to use in the field of counseling even though this book is targeting psychiatrists and not school counselors

Perfect introduction for counseling practice. Corey impart his knowledge and experience in a integrative perspective that guide the reader through the basics of counseling and psychology.

This book explains theories very well, and it is very engaging. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in counselling.
