The reduced price was nice because of the lower quality. Really wobbly in upright position. Wish it had a detachable base because of it being unstable. Also for cleaning it while the caterpillars are hanging in their J-form. A tie-back along the zipper would be beneficial while going in to remove and replace items and checking in on those babies.

Bought this for my daughter to keep her caterpillars in. The cage is well made, sturdy, stands alone. The idea was to keep a pot of the foodplant inside it, and release the caterpillars into it and it works great. It is lightweight so that it's easily removeable, airy, so no fungal grwoth from the regular water spray and the occupants are very visible through the clear plastic panel. It is also not unattractive when kept in the house. We will keep this one for her caterpillars in the spring. It is excellent container for some insects, and so cheap.

This is the perfect size for those who want to but their butterfly host plant in an enclosure. I like the double zipper which helps if a caterpillar decides to form a chrysalis on the zipper. Always pull the zipper so both pulls end in the middle. This is a very lightweight enclosure. If you do not have a heavy plant or some sort of weight nside, it may fly away in the wind. I used binder clips and placed a couple layers of dark weed barrier on top to protect the the caterpillars and chrysalises from blaring sun.

This is a great way to start helping butterflies. It's easy to use and a pleasure to watch each stage of the development. I would recommend it. Great way to show the kids or grandkids how beautiful it is to watch them and set them free..

I have purchased 4 of these enclosures. I could not be happier.Arrived before expected date, folds up small and neatly for storage, perfect size to hold a potted plant.Mesh is tight to keep out all predators. Plenty of room for butterflies to hand to dry and flutter around before release. Visibility is great for viewing.I have recommended these to people in all my Butterfly groups.

This is a so-so product. Probably good for a preschool science project. The price is right but that’s about it. I tried to place my milkweed plant inside, but the flowers and top of the plant folded over about 4-5 inches. Plus, my plan was to protect the caterpillars from the tachinid fly and remove the pot once they formed into a chrysalis but getting the pot in and out didn’t work because the zipper “hole” was pretty small too. I was trying an inexpensive and easy fix but I think a Home Depot project is what I need.

I was impressed upon opening the misleading package that popped into a giant biodome for atop a dresser! Who knew you could literally breed a family of butterflies in a bedroom? Check out the freshly made cacoons in the photo and one caterpillar is now starting! Totally worth the 10 or 12 bucks. A+++

Perfect size to add potted plants and sticks for caterpillars. When they're done eating they climb to the top of the netting and form their chrysalis. Two zippers for easy opening, sturdy and absolutely perfect. I'm so pleased with this purchase!
