Great Brush
The powers that be at my current place of employment decided that in order to compensate us peons for having below industry standard salaries they would buy a Traegar Grill and we would have grill parties on Fridays. I can't say that I blame them for trying to bribe us with delicious smoked meats and the promise of a Friday siesta. For the first week I decided I would do a teriyaki glazed salmon smoked for 30 minutes and then finished on high heat for an additional 10. You can look up how to make this moist, flavorful, and delectable type of salmon on Traegar's website. I highly recommend it. Anyways, after 30 minutes of smoking and 10 minutes of finishing heat the salmon was literally falling out of it's skin. I'm talking you could have packaged this and sold it to the kings of oppressed third world countries as a new type of caviar it was that tender and delicious. We stored the grill and retreated to the office to revel in our bounty. One of the drawbacks of having salmon that is falling out of it's skin is that it leaves behind an absolute mess on your grill, and, this being our first week of Siesta Friday, we didn't have a grill brush with which to clean the grill. The left over salmon bits and teriyaki sauce spent a week in a hot garage solidifying into something that resembled when babies first go poop. You know what I'm talking about... that weird tar type of poop that is sticky and absolutely putrid. Fat Bastard after some ex-lax doesn't have anything on this stuff. We needed some serious cleaning tools to get the job done here. I purchased some citrus based grill cleaning and the Grill Brush by Grill Chief and waited for Amazon Prime to get me that crap as soon as possible. Armed with my new weapons I went to work cleaning the grill. I actually expected the salmon massacre to put up more of a fight than it did when it came to cleaning the grill, but thanks to a light coating of citrus spray and one or two swipes with the Grill Brush the grill was as good as new. I honestly can't believe how well this brush performed and our work Traegar thanks you Grill Chief. I would recommend this brush to anyone who is faced with a similar task of cleaning a grill that has become the embodiment of all that is foul and unholy, or for anyone that just does regular grill scraping after they are done cooking. That too.

A better grill brush - surprised!
This brush works much better than any other I have tried. Actually I'm quite surprised at the difference. The business end doesn't seem to clog with gunk, and so far the bristles look like new (after maybe 25 uses) with no folding over like other grill brushes. The spacing is a great match for premium Weber grates: really gets things clean deeper than just the surface. The angle of the handle also works better - flat handled brushes couldn't get to the edges of my grates because the lip of the grill housing is in the way. The entire thing appears likely to last many years. On the downside, it's quite heavy and the black handle gets very hot in the sun or sitting near the grill. The stainless bristles are a bit dangerous because they're so rigid and sharp (like needles) - be careful handling the new brush. Also the seller was most annoying with several emails begging for reviews - even before I received the product. Because of that I wasn't going to submit a review at all. But in spite of that, now I'm writing one... because the brush is actually too good to be silent about it.

My new standard for a grill brush
This is a short term review. I'll have to remember to come back a year from now to see how it holds up... basically, I've never used a brush this good. I've been barbecuing for many years (decades), and have had everything from lower end el cheapo brushes to the $12 - $13 variety, ones that come in luxury BBQ tool sets, etc. and the main thing about them is they generally don't clean all that well, or last very long. They get clogged, worn down, and gummy. You also learn to "settle" a lot, because you expect things to get cleaner than they really do. The typical scraper edge is usually only good for the most caked on debris, and they often have notches that don't fit, or can't get between the grates. Update 3/30/17 Had to ding it a star. The bristles are holding up great, but one day I was using it and the handle snapped. It's a lot shorted now (surprised the heck out of me), but still usable, just can't get as much leverage. I preheat the grate so I'm not scrubbing away caked and hardened grime. I was using force, but shouldn't have been enough to break it. Anyway, I'd still buy it again because the brush is so good and I can still use it. One of the huge benefits was this is so effective because the bristles are good and the angle makes it more natural to use. With the shortened handle, not so much, but if this had been one of my previous brushes and this happened, I would have just tossed it. Update 7/2016. I haven't grilled quite as much as I wanted since I wrote this, but I've used it another 30 times or so, and it's held up well. The ergonomics combined with its effectiveness allow me to confirm my original impression. A lesser brush would be losing bristles, worn, and more clogged. I didn't realize that my favorite basting brush came in this package. I thought it was something another vendor "threw in the box." Another little bonus... I've used this about 5 times, so it still looks new. Maybe it's premature to say this, but it's far more effective than anything else I've tried. It gets down between the grill rods because of the way it's designed, and you can apply a lot more force with less effort due to it's mechanical design - much more leverage than a typical straight handle square head (or slight rectangle) brush head. Basically, you are getting a lot of square area covered with denser bristles - and by square area, I mean on the surface and in between the grating. Grime comes off faster and more thoroughly. If this thing has just an average service life it's a better tool by far.
