Beautiful! Just beautiful!
The first thing I have to say is that this keyboard is a work of art. I bought it to go along with the retro futuristic theme of my cubicle, and for that purpose it excels. I feel like it helps me express who I am and what I am interested in, and I've gotten compliments on it.As someone who uses a keyboard all day at work I also wanted something that would be more comfortable to use than the stock dell keyboard my work provided. The round typewriter style keys are slightly concave and feel nice to the touch. I assume underneath are cherry MX red switches as I can't feel or hear a click when I press a key, and the actuation force and distance are super consistent which is in line with the quality of cherry switches. Actually the effect reminds me of old typewriters where pressing a key meets smooth even resistance. It took me about half an hour to get used to typing on it because the right shift, enter key, and zero on the 10-key are all a little shorter than I'm used to and I had a habit of pressing the very outside edge of those keys. However it didn't take long for me to adjust. I've also noticed that the lenses over the F and J keys are slightly deeper which is helpful for touch typing.I was a little concerned about the wrist pad because in the past I've found them uncomfortable. However this one has a rounded surface with just the right amount of support and padding for me. The larger wooden base under it stops it from sliding on my desk. The seller, Datamancer, was also very easy to communicate with. I asked for purple LEDs and they were happy to fulfill my request. It did take a month for the keyboard to reach me but since these are made by hand and the company was up front about how long it takes I had no problem with waiting.I think for many people the price might be a point of contention. For me I saw this as something that I would be using more than almost anything else I own and likely for the next 30 years or more. So from that perspective I had no problem justifying to myself the cost. I'm happy to own it and have no regrets. I don't think you'll have any regrets either.
