This is a beautiful book that helped me understand the full capacity of my masonry black oven. I can only imagine tasting Richards bread; but I will aspire to bake it myself. In the meantime I am enjoying his recipes from the comfort zone, loving the baked beans and have learned from there to cook stews and my own slow cooker recipes for wonderful ease and extra special flavor.I had no idea about wood fired cooking and was a bit intimidated. I am now comfortable and appreciate the many surprising ways I can use my oven.

The best book on the subject
This is awesome. If you want to learn how to really use the oven, this is the book for you. Best book on the subject, not necessarily how to build one, but how to use it. Serious heat theory, and using the oven through all its temperatures not just pizza. If you have a pizza oven that heats up in 20 minutes this book is not going to be very helpful. If you have a mud oven, or a masonry oven and want to know how to best take advantage of thermal mass this is for you.

My go to book for wood fired oven baking
The book has great recipes for bread baking, and full meal menus that can be used in conventional ovens or wood fired ovens.

Workshop in a book
This is the best book I have seen dealing with the mechanics of using a wood-fired oven. From starting a fire to drying herbs as the heat drains from the masonry, this book shows how to take maximum advantage of the oven. I have not tried any of the recipes but there are thousands of sources for good recipes. A wood-fired oven can be used for anything that can be made in a conventional oven plus so much more. When is the last time you grilled in your oven or used it to give that turkey a smoky flavor. The missing ingredient, until now, has been the information allowing the conversion of times and temperatures given in other sources to be used in a wood-fired oven without blindly experimenting endlessly. Reading this book is the best alternative I know to standing beside a master baker while he works. I f you have a wood-fired oven or dream of getting one, this is the place to start.

A MUST PURCHASE!!
I was given this book as a gift and it is surely a gift I treasure! I don't have a wood fired outdoor oven, but I love that the recipes in the book can be done in a wood fired oven or in my conventional kitchen oven. I have heard Richard Miscovich present talks, have attended his classes, and he surely knows his business well and does a great presentation in his book or at classes or special events he presents at. I highly recommend his book, whether if for your own use or as a most appreciated gift, especially with the 2016 Christmas Season upon us. You will be glad you ordered it! A must for anyone who owns or is thinking of building a wood fired oven!
This is an outstanding must have book for anyone that has or is thinking of building a wood fired oven. Although the book pertains mainly to brick wood fired ovens, I have found it valuable and insightful source for things to try with my homemade cob oven. My oven does not hold heat as long as the brick ovens do so some items are beyond it's ability. Still this book is a great source of information and I really like the concept of getting the most out of a firing session with my oven! Thanks Richard for you efforts and for sharing your knowledge in this book!

A must have book!
Received my pre-ordered book today and I must say it is a fantastic source of information for anyone having or considering using a wood fired oven. I have quite a few wood fired books in my collection but this one covers it all. Very detailed instructions from start to finish. Fantastic tips and techniques I have not found anywhere else. Not only covers breads and pizza but roasting, baking pies, making jerky, and more. Great photographs of the process and detailed instructions on getting the most use out of a single firing of the wood oven for multiple bakes. This is really a top notch book. Add it to your collection.

Great book! Recommend if you want cook in a wood fired oven. The recipes are spot on, plus the tips in constructing and maintaining a wood fired oven are very good

Great book and a great guide. Requires some knowledge to begin with, but that is probably fair enough for such a guide. Very nicely presented.
