Size:X-Large | Color:Flat Black Stryker White The MAKO is the most recent addition to the TORC brand. Just like its namesake, the fastest species of shark, the Mako has sleek and recognizable body lines. The MAKO replaces both the Prodigy and Blade shells, it is lighter weight that both previous models for your comfort. With a dual density EPS system, laser contoured comfort liner padding, and an optically correct flat panel shield this helmet is the best in class.

Even going a size up, it squashes the front of your skull!
PRO's: Not too heavy, the flip-down internal visor is a nice touch, the add-on visors of different finishes/colors aren't expensive, the graphics look great, and there's slightly less wind noise than with other helmets. Also, there's already cut-outs inside for aftermarket speakers, and there's channels along the side that make it comfortable to wear eyeglasses or sunglasses. Oh, and it's ECE rated, which I trust a LOT more than the virtually-meaningless DOT rating on a bajillion other helmets - not as nice as SNELL, but definitely a big step up.That's about all the good I can think of with this helmet, unfortunately.CON's: The flip-down visor likes to creep down a bit too easily on its own unless you really jam the switch toward the "UP" position (pushing it toward the back of the helmet). The ventilation is TERRIBLE in this helmet - itty-bitty, tiny little openings that seem to go NOWHERE inside the helmet. The wind seal under your chin is a solid piece of cloth rather than the mesh kind used by other brands, so it's good for blocking out road noise, but it makes the already terrible ventilation even worse. The visors ALL fog up VERY easily, even when it's not very cold or wet out at all, probably due to the lack of ventilation. There is no position for the visor other than all the way open or all the way closed, nothing in between, so leaving it open just a tad to let it vent and avoid fogging up at stoplights is not an option. Only alternative is to flip open the main visor and flip down the internal visor for some wind/sun protection without getting fog, but on cold mornings or at night, this isn't really practical. The tabs you have to push down to remove the visor for cleaning or swap-out are VERY flimsy, and you have to push down on them pretty firmly to wiggle (more like ALMOST BREAK) the tabs to make them release the visor.Worst of all, THIS HELMET HURTS TO WEAR FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES AT A TIME. Following others' advice on here, I ordered a size up and got a Large instead of a Medium. Even then, this thing STILL presses terribly tight against the upper part of my forehead, as evidenced by the redness/lines across my head in the included pic (hence my angry frowny face). It's like they shaped it for someone with a perfectly ROUND head instead of an OVAL or INTERMEDIATE OVAL shaped head. So, if you have a noggin shaped like a bowling ball, I guess you're good to go, but the rest of us humans ... not so much. Not sure if I can carve out some of the foam inside the front or back (there's not much there up front to remove) to relieve some pressure, but otherwise, this thing is completely impractical and SUPER uncomfortable to wear for even 15 minutes at a time.I was tempted to at least give this 3 stars, but for the same money or a bit more (or maybe for even less), there are MUCH more comfortable helmets with comparable features that won't squash your brain just by wearing it. Super disappointed, as I spent literally weeks shopping around for a new helmet and this was the sad mess I wound up with. Probably going to go back to wearing my old helmet and just keep this as an emergency spare ... or something to loan to people that I don't like.

Great quality for the money. VERY quiet helmet. However size runs small and it's hot.
I took a chance on the Torc T14 because I love the graphics on this model It's retro-inspired and yet still a full face with DOT protection. And because I'm on a budget and it matches the retro scheme of my Yamaha SCR-950. So first thing you'll need to know is this runs small. If you're close to the upper edge of the range in the helmet size chart, you'll definitely want to order a size larger. Maybe even if you're at the lower end too, they're really small. I normally wear a Large in helmets, and my measurements say I need a large. But I had to send the large back and get an XL.This is one of the quietest helmets I've owned. There's nothing protruding on the sides of the shield to make noise, and it's very streamlined overall. For such an inexpensive helmet to perform this well is a very welcome surprise. The quality of materials seems very good as well. The shield has that nice smooth almost "waxed" feeling, where my hand glides over it nicely. The shell doesn't feel cheap at all, and the liner and padding materials is on-par with Bell. It's definitely a HUGE step up from my Speed and Strength SS1300 in fit, finish, materials, and overall perceived quality. The retention system is oversized D-rings with a snap to hold the loose end, which isn't as convenient as the quick-release in my SS1300, but it is more comfortable. The shield has two finger tabs so I can operate it with my clutch hand while in motion, or my throttle hand while I'm sitting at a light with the clutch pulled in. That's a nice touch. The flip-down smoked screen is wonderful! On so many other helmets the internal shield would touch my nose or my cheeks and be quite uncomfortable. This shield is far from my face, but still completely blocks the sun. It flips up and down with a lever on the side of the helmet, and the lever is easy to find with gloves. It latches up securely as well. This T14 is not perfect, though. There are a few pieces of cheap-feeling plastic on the back of the helmet, used to smooth out the airflow and protect the exit vents. The venting system doesn't work at ALL. The intake for the chin vent for instance is at the top. I don't know about you, but hitting the front of my helmet is going to want to go up and over the shell, not down and into the vent. The forehead vent likewise does nothing. With the chin guard in place, this helmet is unbearably hot. Removing the chin sealing flap makes it managable in NC summers, but only if I'm moving. Removing the chin flap also makes the helmet a bit noisier. The face shield is either all the way open, or all the way closed. There are no detents to keep the shield partially open. Well, that's not entirely true. There's a very small detent that would hold the shield open just enough to get some air flow into the helmet, but it's a very light catch, and the wind pushes it closed above 25mph. You might fair better with a large windshield, but for a naked bike the shield basically has "fully open" and "fully closed" settings, with nothing inbetween.I'm curious how this helmet will perform in the fall and winter. I may enjoy the warmth then, however no idea if the shield will fog badly or not. That remains to be seen, and I'll update this review when the winter rolls around.

Low-forehead pressure point
I really want to like this helmet. I like everything, except one major issue. There's a severe pressure-point in the forehead section, just above the eyebrow/bottom of the forehead padding. After wearing this for half an hour, I had a nasty headache that lasted for 2 days. (I do not get headaches easily). I know of one friend who had a similar problem with one of this company's half-shells & returned it, and a third has managed to tolerate it but usually only rides short distances, and says he noticed the same thing. That's 3 for 3, everyone I know who has bought a TORC helmet. I think to comfortably wear this, you'd need a very high bulging forehead. It's super weird. That said, it's a good looking helmet with good features otherwise. I actually plan to see if I can add some padding higher in the forehead to make it tolerable; if so I might keep the thing. But jeez, if anyone from the company sees this, consider modifying the forehead shape!

Looks to be a very good helmet for the price - It's a lifesaver
Looks to be a very good helmet for the price. Comfortable, good fit, and I really like the features. Some of the plastic on the helmet seems kind of cheap, so only four stars.- Update from May 27, 2018. This helmet probably saved my life. Pics of what happened to the helmet added. A car pulled in front of me and I hit them going about 45 mph. Walked away. This helmet protected my head and face perfectly.

Amazing value for money
Amazing value for the money. It includes a pop down sun visor. Pretty light weight and a good right fit.
