Absolutely the best soap….
I gotta say L&G… I got off the cheap, box-soap a few years ago and I’ve been testing quite a few higher-end soaps ever since…and this one is probably one of the best I’ve used… Love everything about it…the scent, the lather, the size and ability to hold it and how long it lasts… San Francisco Soap Co. products are a close second…and IMO, the Duke Cannon bars are the worst…too large, sharp edges, funky scents… the only downside to this soap is the price…There are a lot of other Bay Rum soaps that try to be good, but they’re not even close to this one in terms of quality… But you get what you pay for…Don’t hesitate to buy this soap..you’ll love it…

Love the way it smells
Loves the way it smells and leaves skin feeling fresh and clean. Nice size bar also.

Great smelling soap
This soap is amazing! The lather is unreal, but it's the smell that did it for me. It lights up the whole bathroom for hours and on your skin it's like magic. It's spicey, woody, beachy freshness. I have bought more than three times.

At first it seemed the closest thing to my old favorite Bay Rum soap
I am a big fan of the Burt's Bees Exfoliating Bay Rum Soap, but sadly, it is no longer available. I purchased three brands recently, and at first this was the one I preferred most of all. It seems quite close to the Burt's Bees soap. Close enough that after all these years, the difference in my memory is negligible. Unlike many of the other Bay Rum soaps on the market, this one does not seem to dissolve after three uses. It is a real solid bar of soap. Good size, great scent. It is as far from exfoliating on the "exfoliating scale" as it can be, however. But it doesn't claim to be. It is very smooth...and probably the MOST slippery soap I have ever tried to hold.EDIT (4/22/2015): While this seemed the closest to my old favorite that I have come I used it very rarely, preferring another that I purchased at the same time. Now, I do not know if it was because it sat for a time not being used, but the scent was barely noticeable at the time of this edit. I am still not sure which is the best, however, given the price, I will be going with another brand (a brand which gives you two bars and is exfoliating). As I noted before, it MIGHT be because I did not continue to use it and let it sit for about 2 months that it lost its punch.

Bang for your Buck
I'd never heard of bay rum before, but the name sounded so enticing that I went ahead and bought as many bay rum soaps as I could find here on Amazon just so I could try them all. Now I'm finally getting around to trying them out and this is one of the best of the bunch, so far. It's not exactly my favorite (that distinction goes to Ogallala's Bay Rum Bar), but it comes close. This one is not as strongly-scented as Ogallala's, but what it lacks in fragrance it makes up for in lasting power. Being a 7oz monster, this bar has lasted me quite a few uses and is only halfway gone. This loses a star with me only because the scent is too light for my taste. But other than that, it's worth the money.

Bold Bay Rum scent that lasts
At first I was apprehensive about the cost, as it is significantly more than I've paid for a single bar in the past. It arrived nicely packed in a box with a few bars of Bay Rum soap from other companies, and the St. John's was by far the most intense Bay Rum scent. It is a fantastically balanced Bay Rum that, to my nose, is the best I've had and reminds me of our beloved Burt's Bees Bay Rum that was so delightful.St. John's is also a very big bar. I've used it every day for two weeks and it is barely smaller and still twice the size of a standard bar of soap. As others have noted, it is pretty slippery, but keep in mind that I am used to soaps with flecks of exfoliants embedded in them, so your experience may differ from mine. While I have three other competitors yet to try, I can tell already this is going to be my favorite. While a bit pricy, it is absolutely worth it for that bold, traditional Bay Rum scent that iingers on the skin all day and a bar that will likely last quite a while. My only wish is for a smaller "travel-sized" bar, as this is far too large to fit into my travel soap container, and dimensionally, I'd have to cut this into thirds to get it to fit.Highly recommend

Greatest smell!
This is the only soap that actually smells like real bay rum. It’s a big bar and last for a very long time. You won’t be disappointed.
