Original Publisher Version?
I own 3 other books from this series and find them very informative. All of them are high quality books with quality CDs and color illustrations... except for this one! The book is completely black and white, see example photo. Absolutely no mention of this in the description. Makes it difficult to see distinctions on many examples. For example, where a VU meter changes from green to red. Either Hal Leonard cheaped out on this last of the series or this is not from the original Publisher. Disappointed ☹️

Good, but
I have volumes 1, 2, 3 and 6. I am reviewing and recommending Volume 6, 2nd ed. For some reason, most of the included videos on the disk do not play on my Dell laptop, though I don't have problems with the other volumes. I'm sure that it is a Hal Leonard (the publisher) issue. As far as the book goes (I'm not through it all yet) it was very helpful to me as a recoording hobbiest. Chapter 4 on Mixing Theories, Chapter 6 on Mixing, Chapter 8 Pullig It All Together, and Chapter 10 on Mastering help reveal much of 'the man behind the curtain' and how to get things done correctly. My reason for only 4 stars is that I think the author spends too much ink on analog tape recording and outboard hardware effects. He mostly mentions that no one records like that anymore (though he points out a few exceptions) and that the tape equipment is very expensive if its available at all. Although the historical aspect is interesting it has no practical value.Otherwise, I'm waiting for Vol. 5 2nd ed. to come out in August 2012.

Good book but...
There are references to PDF files that should be available for download but they're no where to be found. The author simply ignores all correspondance and does not respond at all, and the publisher has no idea what to do about it. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE can make or break an impression, and I won't buy any more books in this series.

Eccellente
Consigliatissimo
