My New Favorite
These lids perform really well. Great price. The color match my kitchen decor. The plastic is heavy duty and has lips that make it easy tighten and loosen. Love the date dial on the lid so I know when my fermentation is done. Really like that you can suction out all the air. No mold grew. The gas release valve works perfectly. Comes with a wooden pounder. Highly recommend for beginner or seasoned fermenters. Pictured - kimchi, sauerkraut, whole garlic, and red onions.

Great lids!!!!
Lids are great, work perfectly, have had these for almost 3yrs and they work just as good as they did brand new. I make a ton of brined pickles, firecracker carrots, giardiniera and kvass at least once a week. Muddle stick is worth its weight in gold, just keep it lubed up with butcherblock conditioner and it's new everytime you use it. Now for the bad.... the air pump is completely worthless. Straight out of the box it doesn't work and the company doesnt just sale the air pump. Luckily I have an air pump from a different set of lids and it's 6yrs old, still works like it's new. I would buy a different set of lids until the air pump issue is taken care of, otherwise a great, easy to use, lid

Great airlock lids, work really well!
I haven't tried other airlock lids for mason jars, so that is my caveat. I really like these ones!Pair with some weights and you are good to go! They screw on and keep your weight in place. The air extractor thingie works quite well too.I also really like the tamper it came with...definitely handy for packing jars! The date things on top are nice, but unless you are starting lots of batches at different times, not super handy. If you have a batch that still spills out the top, it sort of gunks up those things and they don't want to slide well anymore, but as it's 100% external to the batch, it doesn't matter.

Simple To Use
The first one I purchased only worked a couple times and then the suction pump failed. When I needed a replacement, the Amazon Website wanted me to send everything g back for a replacement. However I already had food fermenting and I wasn’t going to throw it away. I was able to contact a live agent and they were able to send me a new vacuum pump. The new one works perfectly. I have fermented many items and they have all worked out well. Love the date market on the cap. Easy to burp to open once the food is done. Easy cleanup.

Not the solution I thought it would be.
The media could not be loaded. Directions are poor which is typical. I made my batch of kraut and stuffed it in the jars with the included wooden ram rod. I vacuumed the oxygen out with the hand pump. Here's the issue, once fermentation starts, the kraut rises with the gas. You still have to open the jars and repack often to keep it submerged in fluid. Then, if you attempt to use the pump again, it will lift the fluid up and away from the kraut. So, you still have to monitor daily and repack and you can't use the hand pump after the first time. What's the point of these lids? Self burping is all you get. But since I'm having to open often, I might as well save $20ish and use regular lids and burp myself or leave loose to burp themselves like I did on my last batch. Also, I still had oxidation on exposed cabbage even though I never opened the lid since starting 4 days ago.I did not have any issues sealing lids with the flimsy silicone gaskets that they come with. If you tighten it well enough, you'll see your jar's glass rim making a firm seal through the translucent gasket. As pictured, one of the date tabs wasn't stamped correctly, but it's not really that important.
