Works great for drip line irrigation installation/maintenance
This cordless heat gun is just what I was hoping for! Another perfect DeWalt toy to add to my collection. I am using it primarily for heating up 1/2” irrigation drip line hose, making it very easy to poke in the 1/4” line connections and couplings between 1/2” line. The heat output is perfect for this application and the cordless aspect makes working out in the yard very easy. I’ve got lots of extra 20volt batteries since I have lots of DeWalt cordless power tools…so the fact that this came without a battery, no problem.

Very handy addition to 20V XR tool set
I was looking for a simple heat gun to use for simple heat shrink use. I already own a collection of 20V XR DeWalt batteries so this heat gun was a no brainer addition. Compared to my corded heat gun, this tool does not deliver the high heat (it is battery operated after all) output but it works just fine for its intended purpose. This tool is very effective for heat shrink purposes. I have also tried it with solder wire joint splice and there is sufficient heat to melt the solder and heat shrink the sleeve around it.This tool also makes it very easy to use a heat gun anywhere outside, or any remote location where access to AC power is problematic. You do need to keep in mind that since this is battery powered, your run time will be limited.

Great heat, Less airflow
👍🏻 Recommended: Despite less airflow than cheaper plug-in guns, this one provides plenty of heat & stands upright to cool off after using.Cheaper plug-in heat guns have much higher airflow & higher temperatures. That being said, sometimes the cheap guns are too hot and blow too much air. This dewalt 20v gun provides plenty of heat for small projects. Less airflow with plenty of heat means you don’t have to worry about burning everything else nearby. You also don’t have to worry about a cooling stand or heat resistant surface to set it down on after using it like you do with plug-in guns. They take forever to cool off & risk burning whatever surface they touch when laying down.

Adequate for me, but others might be unsatisfied by high current drain + mediocre high-temp setting
Echoing the other comments here:1) This tool drains batteries like crazy. I used a stopwatch to time it - when set to High and locked to run continuously, it drained a brand-new, fully-charged 2Ah battery in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. (The runtime might be better if used in incremental bursts - it's my hunch that the heat generated inside the battery by such a high current drain might have reduced its runtime.)2) Compared with standard corded 110V heat guns, this one isn't nearly as hot on the high setting. This tool is adequate for my purposes (mainly heat-shrinking spliced wires, which takes 30 seconds of small bursts), and the convenience of using the same DeWalt batteries as for a range of other tools is a major convenience.

Works fine & no cord is nice in tight spots
Works great and just handy to not be messing with a cord. Get hot enough for my needs. Video on YT: bobeaseshop

It works, but at a price.
I thought this was going to be a good idea due to the mobility or ease of use without having to lug an extension cord around when using a heat gun in multiple area of homes I visit for work. But it really doesn't have very much power as far a heat guns go. It goes through batteries like Joey Tribbiani goes through dates. Even the big "Corellian Cruisers" (9 amp hours) Be sure to bring in your fast charger and several spare batteries when using this heat gun.It WAS however perfect for heating my frozen puck locks off my work van when we had a freezing rain day a few months back. Every time I went back to my van the lock was frozen and I had to heat it with this gun in order to unlock my van. I must have used it 10 times that day.

Great Heat Gun
great heat gun but it will drain your battery faster than any other your DeWalt tools, but for quick heating of plastic or shrink tube this unit is great.
