eBook version could be much better
Great reference and resource guide. The eBook however is annoying in that it's hard to find any particular page or drug as you can't skip around chapters. The print is also fixed so I had to keep zooming into each page to read the text. I would also note that one experience at one dosage does not give you a complete picture of the effects of a drug, but this is definitely a great starting point and better than anything else out there. Also, the author seems to experience most of the drugs by himself, and I would say that the effects of a drug can be substantially altered in the company of others. For example, if you drank alcohol at home by yourself, you would have a much different experience than if you had drank at a club and danced with friends. Also, the author is trying to be objective and semi-scientific about it, so the descriptions of experiences come across a bit sterile and boring, again pointing out the fact that a lot of drug experience is social and in the case of ancient spiritual drugs, the social setting and guidance is absolutely critical for the true experience.

No fear-mongering, just information
This book is.......unique. It looks at all the fear-mongering and gut-based policies normally included in drug education and says "nah, I'm gonna just give honest information about how to stay safe and what to expect." Not only has it helped me understand the real risks of some of these drugs in a much more realistic sense, it's re-shaped the way I view alcohol. I am thankful for this book, and fully intend to give it as a gift to anyone I can think of.

A Faux Bible
As researcher, I became interested in this book. Currently working on a book in a similar vein but just focusing on psychedelics, so I though this might be a interesting resource and would be of use. I was wrong, itโs full of general harm reduction practices that apply to common sense and most of the reports and descriptions of chemical classes were wrong. I was disappointed in the cannabinoid section, assuming all cannabinoids are bad because you tried two and didn't like them? So now everybody needs to stay away? I personally enjoy synthetic cannabinoids and they can be recreational with dose control. Iโm glad this can be of use to parents, and young people, but if you are a psychonaut, or weโll versed in the use of substances this book is of no use to you. You can find much more detailed and interesting trip reports on erowid.

A Must Have
Every house should have one on hand. The title leads a person to believe they, or someone in their house is a drug user. Nope. A great reference guide for anyone who wants to be knowledgeable about the common โlegalโ drugs out there. With all the designer drugs plus old drugs newly being abused, literally every home needs something to look at that has real world information, not textbook facts and numbing generic medical terminology.Well laid out, easy to read and understand. Wish I knew about something like this when my child was younger.

A very interesting read - live vicariously through this guy, learn something.
The book is very well written and is all about safety (safety messages are printed on every single page!). What I found surprising about it is the amount of autobiographical / vernacular stuff that comes up around the authors research, procuring and of course taking all these substances. Each drug is typically a page or two so it makes for a good 5 minute distraction here and there. I can recommend this to anyone and have already sent a couple of copies to friends abroad.

Dissapointed, this guy is not qualified to write this book.
This book may be useful to a complete drug newbie, someone who has absolutely no experiences with drugs. "The drug users bible" describes his "trip reports" from drug usage at the absolute threshhold levels, and inspires me to write my own book "The REAL drug users bible"
