Notes to DIYs out there: 1] Invest in a hot-air rework station and a desoldering braid/wick to do this. It is quite difficult to remove the old power jack using a soldering iron (I used a 30W iron, and struggled for 30 min). If you do use a soldering iron, first add fresh solder to the pins of the old socket before attempting to remove it. It appears Acer has used high temperature solder, thus you need to mix it with regular solder to bring the melting temperature down. Clean the mounting holes thoroughly using desoldering braid/wick. 2] Before soldering the new jack in place, put the motherboard back in the Chromebook case and make sure the jack is positioned correctly and shows through the side-port. Only then, solder in place. If out-of-place, you may need to clean the pin-holes on the board more thoroughly, for more precise positioning of the jack.If you use a hot-air rework station, make sure you cover the adjacent circuitry/chips with some high temperature (heat resistant) polyimide (Kapton) tape; available on Amazon.
