Brownie Mix Bliss: Find the Shortcut to Homemade Desserts in a Box of Brownie Mix

I received this book about 5 months ago and since have made about 15 of the recipes in the book. I don't normally write reviews, but I love this book so much I had to go back 5 months later and leave a review. The recipes all start with a box of brownie mix and add extras to create delicious, sinfully decadent desserts that look like they were made from scratch. No one would ever believe that these desserts started with brownie mix, and I'm not going to tell them! Some of my favorites- chocolate-covered cherry brownies, mint frosted brownies, cappuchino brownies, brownie truffles, brownie-bottom fudge cheesecake and so many others. I have actually used the recipe for Almond Fudge Brownies 4 times due to popular demand: several of my coworkers were so impressed they commissioned me to make them for their children's birthday parties! Every recipe is easy to follow and would be useful for anyone from expert baker to people that have only baked using box cake and brownie mixes. In just 5 months my book is well creased and stained with chocolate smudges because it is my go-to book whenever I need to make something for a special occasion. Besides great brownie recipes, it includes many, many recipes for desserts that you would never think of using brownie mix to make (ex: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate-chip cheesecake bars). It is definitely a multi-purpose book and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. It is worth every penny for all the smiles it has brought to my family and coworkers. :)

This is a wonderful book with all sorts of good ideas for doctoring up a brownie box mix. My favorites thus far are the Cookies-n-cream brownies, Jim & Anna's Dark Rum Brownies, White Chocolate Brown Sugar Meringue Bars. I had never even heard of browned butter when I tried the Browned Butter Cashew Brownies. These are divine. The first time I made them I followed the recipe exactly. The second time I made them I used raw, then roasted cashews and salted butter, and the flavor was so much better. I can't wait to try all the other recipes. Aside from the recipes, the print is easily readable, the ingredient listed in bold text make them stand out, and the book was printed in North America. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a chocolate sweet tooth.

Admit it - even die hard bakers and cooks like me - can use a short cut now and then - this is the brownie mix bible! Buy it - you won't be disappointed. -- Addendum: Made the dark rum brownies today with the chocolate glaze - dear God - - I bake them and then left the house - I came back in and the house smelled incredible (and I bake all the time!) - - - they taste even better than they look and smell. You would swear you bought these at some posh bakery! I made a double batch to send to my husband's work - but couldn't send them all - wrapped up some for favorite friends and pals - only the best of friends deserve these!

Have made 5 of the recipes so far, and every one has been a winner - easy to follow instructions, consistently delicious results. I highly recommend it for those how love to make delicious home-made chocolate goodies without taking 2 or 3 hours to do so. The only thing that would have made this better would be a spiral binding, as this regular soft-cover bound style doesn't want to stay open on it's own, resulting in more than a few brownie-batter fingerprints marring the pages of mine now. Oh, well. It's just got that "lived in" look.

As the name implies, Brownie Mix Bliss offers ways to doctor brownie mix to make something a little more special. I got this out of the library and enjoyed it so much I bought a copy to add to my collection of cookbooks. A great way to make something fast that's nice when you don't have the time or energy to bake from scratch. (Also a good way for someone who is trying to move from mix baking to scratch to try something a little bit more complex.)

I am really impressed by this book, even if it has NO pictures, you must trust every recipe. Up to now I have done 4 and all of them are amazing. I would have never thought that brownies made out of "made basic brownie mix" were so amazing. Really this book is fantastic!! The only that I may recommend is that you do NOT buy it in KINDLE FORMAT because it is very hard to read, it is not easy to find the recipes since there are no pages and the recipes do not fit in 1 page. Because I bought it for the kindle and as the recipes are so good I ended up buying it again but now on paper, because it is definitely wordy.

Get this cookbook for the Almond Fudge Brownies recipe! I brought a batch to work and a couple of the guys ate 5 or 6 EACH. Three weeks later they're still talking about them. Camilla makes you look like a genius baker and the recipes are so simple. Can't believe how many variations the author came up with. Can't wait to try more. I hit a homerun with my first selection.

No point in putting little tabs on the recipes I want to make. There are way too many.

I should have taken the hint from the title. I was sorely disappointed with this book - one for the scrap-heap for me.
