Four Stars
very well narrated but the story is too sad since women's life was the same in those days.

excellent book
This book is a keeper. It is so good I read it slowly to make it last longer. Ms. Norton's writing is so interesting and easy to read. Wonderful writing and I can't wait to read more of her work!

So good I didn't want it to end
This book is a real keeper! The author presents a wonderful balance between what was happening to the "rich and royalty" and what was happening to the common women during the same time frame. For example, most people are aware of the the religious turmoil in England after Henry VIII took over as head of the church. Ms. Norton provides a real sense of how difficult that was for the commoner who constantly had torevamp their religious beliefs and practices to avoid falling foul of whatever monarch was in power! As I got closer and closer to the end, I found myself reading only a few pages at a time. I didn't want it to end.

The Perfect History of Tudor Womanhood.
Elizabeth Norton's new book is exceptional; she based this on The Seven Ages of (W/o)man. Each chapter-age has smaller sections-on capitol punishment,or Guilds, Her opening concerns the first Elizabeth Tudor-a short-lived daughter of Henry the Seventh. She studies every aspect of Tudor life; if you are a fan of the Tudors, this book is important. Highly recommended.

Great research
Very good and well researched. Just wish there was a little more "secrets" but I know she could only come up with what she could research.

Great book
This was a great book if you are interested in the period. It's not a historical fiction, and they don't follow a story. It's more about a broad range of social situations women might find themselves in. Very fascinating information

Fascinating about the ordinary Tudor woman
As a Tudor history fan, this book was right up my street - my husband bought it for me, so I'm writing the review instead of him!I found the information about the ordinary woman very much more interesting and newly informative than the 'royal stuff', which has been done in so many books already, although there were new and fascinating details here as well. The book was beautifully written and a page turner, which is an achievement for what in effect is a 'history book'. I would definitely read other things by the same author.

Same book as 'Lives of Tudor Women', just with a slightly-altered title
This book looks interesting, but Amazon misleads its customers when it says that this and "The Lives of Tudor Women", by the same author, are 'frequently bought together' - and encourages customers to put both in their virtual baskets. In fact these two book-covers / titles conceal the fact that inside, the books are identical. So why does Amazon encourage us to buy two copies of the same thing, just with different covers???
