OEM grade, Perfect fit, direct replacement
Motorcraft SW6357 Oil SwitchThis is the OEM replacement oil switch for my 2000 Crown Victoria (and probably a large quantity of other Ford/Lincoln/Mercury that use the 4.6L 2V SOHC V8 engine). The original switch lasted about 11 years. About a year ago, it started to not show any oil pressure after the engine started up and would intermittently show pressure. If the engine is fully warmed up, the old switch tended to work fine. I had procrastinated because this is just a dummy/idiot light and it doesn't tell me anything. If there truly were no oil pressure, the engine would not have lasted over a year of hard driving, and would surely have seized within a few miles.Ford, like other vehicle OEMs, do not like to show true oil pressure because Joe/Jane Sixpack won't understand that oil pressure will vary depending on how the engine is being used. Rather than waste time answering questions like "why is my oil gauge fluttering?", they choose to use an idiot light or gauge that shows there is oil pressure or there is no oil pressure. Fair enough, because my Ducati motorcycle is the same way. This is a direct-fit part, and removal/installation took under 15 minutes. I used a 13/16" long socket with a ½" drive ratchet to do the work, but be careful not to overtighten the switch. It uses tapered pipe threads, so overtightening will cause the oil filter adapter housing to crack. I applied some Permatex High Performance Thread Sealant (available at Amazon) to make sure it is sealed properly. The included sealant ought to work fine, but I push the engine hard, so I want to make sure there aren't any leaks. Make sure you get a catch pan because some engine oil will drain out of the oil filter housing. The picture on Amazon shows a black plastic housing, but it actually is a white/off-white color just like the original part. I did notice that on the box, there is a 2006 Ford part number which suggests some engineering revisions were done over the years. The original part lasted 11 years, so hopefully this replacement switch will last another 11-12 years.Overall: 5/5 stars, inexpensive, OEM direct-fit replacement, genuine hardware

Garbage
Product is OEM, however the product is extremely flimsy. Once installed, the plastic connector popped off and I’m at a loss as to how to fix it. Buy a couple and hope you won’t need more than one.
