Plug and Play - No Issues!
The J-Tech "BE100" USB 2.0 extender over Cat6 cable is a great product! It is truly as simple as the instructions says! I have over 100' run from the desktop to where the camera is mounted. The J-Tech "BE100 USB Extender" comes with two parts, the "Transmitter" and "Receiver". The "Transmitter" comes with a power supply, 1 RJ45 port (for the CAT6 cable), and 2 USB 2.0 ports. The "Receiver" comes with 1 RJ45 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports. You will also need 2 USB 2.0 cables, be sure they are no longer than 6 feet each. Once you have your CAT6 cable run completed, then set up the "Transmitter". Simply plug the RJ45 (CAT6 cable) to the "Transmitter", connect the USB 2.0 cable to the "Transmitter" and the computer, and connect the power supply to the "Transmitter". To set up the "Receiver", connect the remote end of the CAT6 cable to the "Receiver" RJ45 port, connect the USB 2.0 cable to the "Receiver" and the remote device (camera in my case), there is no power supply need for the "Receiver". NOTE - These J-Tech "BE100 USB Extender" devices can accommodate 2 remote devices, hence the 2 USB 2.0 ports on each end. I only had USB 3.0 ports on my desktop, and wondered if these J-Tech devices would be fully compatible, but there was no issue. They are truly "Plug and Play". Once everything was hooked up, turned on the camera, and instantly the desktop could "see" the remote device in "Control Panel / Devices". I added the remote device (camera) to my video software (OBS) and could instantly view the camera video stream. Great product!

Great product that does exactly what it says
I bought these originally to test them out because I want to send my DirecTv to multiple TVs. So far with all my testing they work great and once I get my network in my house upgraded to have the jacks everywhere I need them I'll be buying a few more receivers to complete my setup.Just an FYI for anyone who is looking at these. They do use a multicast protocol so make sure your router/switch can handle that or it will need to be on it's own network. If you don't have the right type of switch and you will most likely bring down your entire WIFI network. This is not a design flaw this is just a side effect of the multicast protocol. I knew these limitations when I bought it and have a switch to handle it but I tested it just to see and it didn't take long. The only thing I wish that was different is that I wish the transmitter output a standard UDP multicast stream that I could connect to with my computer. I used wireshark to look at the network traffic from it and it is using a standard protocol but the packet length is showing up wrong every time which means they are most likely doing something non standard with it. I'm not reducing any stars for this because they do make another (more expensive) transmitter that does this exact thing but it had other options and I was hoping that this was doing the same and just wasn't giving a nice user interface to look up the info.I would recommend this product to anyone who just needs to extend an HDMI signal for a long distance or to multiple TVs as I'm looking to do.

works perfectly
I highly recommend this product. In fact, I just ordered another set. I'm able to distribute the HDMI signal throughout my home via ethernet switches. It should be noted though that the IR extension function does not work when using switches. Instead I had to get RF remote controls in order to control the receivers from other rooms.Setup is a breeze, and both picture and audio quality are perfect. The beauty of this product is that it uses multicast to transmit the signal. This means you can have multiple receiving units, multiple transmitting units, and distribute it anywhere you have a network connection. I would recommend decent switches that are capable of using vlans to separate traffic though.

Works great on copper & TCP/IP; floods network and kills WiFi if not on VLAN; IR limited to only 38 KHz; forget about Tech Suppr
Product works great over copper; we tested it on a 120 ft Cat5e circuit with success. IR were also retransmitted with the sole caveat that the receiving antenna has a narrow angle. Then we went into TCP/IP testing, which on an isolated network (switch-to-switch) worked seamlessly, very impressive results. By the way IR commands are also retransmitted over TCP/IP, contrary to many comments out there. On the reverse of the medal: If you plug these onto your network without any form of traffic segregation, be it via VLAN or whatever you invent, the box will flood the entire network, principally WiFi access points. We tried to figure out how to locate these devices on the network but the sniffer did not find any IP or MAC addresses. Tech Support was useless and never got back to us. The other bad thing is that it only retransmits 38 KHz IR signals, whereas nowadays it is each time more common to find 56 KHz IR devices such as the Scientific Atlanta CATV box being distributed by major cable providers. Finally, as I said earlier, Tech Support does not exist! We called several times and the same nice gentleman answers; unfortunately he is clueless and tells us they will get back to us - to never hear back from them again. We would have tried to work things out with Tech Support, but since they don't want to play ball.... item was returned.

Defective Out of the Box
I've used J-Tech extenders before without issues but this one was defective from the factory, turning what should have been an hour job into several hours of troubleshooting--time my client won't be paying me for. I had to test the monitor, NVR, and LAN cable before I confirmed the extender was defective out of the box. Tech support answered quickly (it was a Monday morning) and were polite and helpful but I nevertheless lost money on the job. In the future I'll avoid anyting from J-Tech.
