Viewed in isolation, these are very good trail shoes but if you’ve followed the series from Fellcross 1&2 then onto the Speeds, these are rather disappointing.Yep the look “cool” and they retain the same excellent sole of the Speeds which even grip wet rock like a limpet but... why oh why is there an open tongue area? Dirt could previously only enter near the top of the shoe; now it can freely enter at the base of the tongue! And why use impermeable material rather than breathable stuff?They also feel much less stable around the heel and that new lacing pouch looks way more fragile.So sorry Salomon, these are a step backwards; the Speeds were better; it was only worn soles that made me try these.
