These work for the HP T740 - I tried some from a different brand, and those triggered the power protection circuit within the T740. These worked perfectly.

Loses one point as there's a gap which forms between the HP power supply and the adaptor, the adaptor piece being too short...

These adapters work as designed. I use them on a 200w power supply for my laptop and have no issues.

Per the product listing, I presume that the "H" reference meant "HP" and the "D" meant "Dell".Considering that I am using both an HP laptop and HP power supply, I thought my chances were pretty good for this to work.My original HP power supply was lost, but I found this suitable replacement. By suitable, I mean that it has the same output specs as my original unit. The only difference was the larger barrel plug...which these adapters were meant to correct.I'll clarify my headline about one or both not working.First, I wasn't certain if these adapters were supposed to sit flush on the power adapter.More to the point, they did not provide the same experience.The first one didn't cause anything to happen with my laptop. No lights, no fan twitch, no POST, nothing.The second one caused my power LED to blink three times. So then to confirm functionality, I repeatedly switched between the two adapters. The first one continued to have no effect, the second one created the 3-flash sequence. NEITHER of them allowed my laptop to power up.If my issue was a failed battery, which could be the cause of the 3-flash LED sequence, at minimum I should've still been able to power up the laptop, regardless if the battery was internally connected or not.Since neither adapter led to the system powering up, I can only conclude that one or both of them are broken in their own special way.I provided the picture to show the correct output of the power supply, and that it is an OEM HP.The picture also shows how the adapter doesn't sit flush with barrel on the power supply. (Don't know if that's intentional or not.)

Did not work on my Dell 7.4mm charger to charge my XPS 13 4.5mm... but it did power it on after a BIOS warning. Once I get booted the dead battery never went past 1% for hours. This is fine if you plan to stay plugged in, but it will not charge your battery. Dell laptops require OEM Dell branded chargers without any adapters on them. Bummer, but it did the trick for my immediate needs, but it will not work for a permanent solution.
