A way to resurrect my 40-year-old cassettes
40 years ago I was preparing to move to Saudi Arabia and it was suggested I not take my vinyl LP's because my personal effects shipment could sit around outside in 40C (100+F) temperatures for a couple of weeks before it got delivered to my residence, so I copied everything I had onto cassettes. Came back to Canada after a couple of years but as time went by I played them less and less and they've sat in a trunk, mostly unplayed, for the last 30+ years. I bought the ClearClick Cassette2USB Converter so that I could resurrect the tapes, convert them on my IMac, load them into iTunes and then play them on my IPhone. My IMac wouldn't recognize the CD with the software but ClearClick Support gave me a link to download it, and it turned out I already had it (Audacity) on my system anyway. At first I couldn't get it to record, which turned out to be a couple of rookie mistakes on my part that ClearClick Support quickly got me through, and now it's just fine. Given that it's processing 40-year-old cassettes that weren't always great recordings to start with, I'm more than pleased with the results. I've never worked with audio files before so I'm learning as I go and I'll likely re-do some of the early attempts but I'm definitely pleased with the process and results. I'm driving around in my car listening to albums that haven't seen the light of day for 40 years. ClearClick Support deserves compliments, it was fast and friendly.

Cassette Tape to USB Converter
I was looking for something like this for years, this does a good job, is easy to use (easier than some others on the market), and it does not require batteries or extensive software knowledge. It is still a slow process. It may be easier in the long run to find the songs on Amazon and just download them in MP3 format or buy the CD. This item is good for people with a lot of time on their hands or cassettes that are not available in any other format or online.

With a heavier cable, my son owned, from the cassette to my laptop I can now use my old laptop. I love this product.
I'm not much of a computer person and it only took me 3 tries to figure out what I needed to do but this was easy, what a blessing to have 38 year old tapes transferred to my computer so my children and grandchildren can hear our family stories. I used the basic noise reduction and it did a great job. I have transferred 6 tapes so far and I would have spent $10.00 each for a professional to put each on a CD. Then I would have to figure how to transfer the cd to the computer. It didn't work on my old lap top but my newer computer with Window's 10 was an easy install. I found it was easier to create tracks if I set a time to stop recording, then I only had a few tracks to move around, otherwise the top of the box was full of arrows and no space to say Track 1, Track 2, etc. Well worth the cost. THANK YOU, CLEAR CLICK!!!

Changed Review - from one star to three stars
Well, my cassette tape to USB Converter arrived two days ago. I was excited to resurrect some audio tapes that I can no longer play in my car - since cassette players are now pretty much obsolete. I've been trying for the last couple of days to get it to work. I plugged it into the USB port - which is supposed to power it in addition to providing a computer connection. Nothing. Didn't move. Couldn't rewind, record or fast forward. Under Frequently Asked Questions it suggested adding batteries because the USB connection may not provide enough power (?!!). Huh? If there's any doubt about a USB port powering it why design it to use one? This was a complete waste of money and now a waste of my time as I try to get my purchase refunded. Do NOT waste your money on this product! I'm changing my original review (above) from one star to three stars. Why? What changed my mind was the customer service response. I was contacted immediately and asked to try a couple of things - neither of which worked. Following that, I was promptly sent another unit that worked well. I've since transferred many hours of tapes to MP3 format successfully and with good reproductive quality. All (problem, customer service response and newly received unit) happened within a matter of a few days. What started as a bad experience was made good by customer service. Since receiving the working unit, it has worked well and I'm happy with it.

JUST HORRIBLE. PURE JUNK IN EVERY WAY
Worst purchase ever. Strongly recommend NOT wasting your time or money on the ClearClick Cassette2USB converter. I wasted many hours trying to get this device to work with multiple high end laptops. Neither of the supplied software programs, nor any of the audio capture programs I use all the time, would detect that anything was even connected to a USB port. The audio out of the headphone jack was horrible. I tried multiple tapes. At low volume there was a background screeching that was louder than the audio from the tape. Turning up the volume reduced the screeching but induced rumbling and hissing that was as loud as the music from the tape. Pushing the play button down really hard improved the audio quality slightly, but at best it was still the worst I've ever heard. Fast forward and Rewind were barely faster than play mode. The direction button only worked half the time and sometimes made the device shake like it was trying to go in both directions at the same time. Amazon should have higher standards than to allow their customers to be ripped off by junk like this.

I have tried others - THIS one works well.
I don't often write reviews, but given my research and experience recently, I wanted to put in a good word for this product. I have tried other similar products on Amazon with higher reviews and was unsatisfied. I had to return previous player due to being non-functional and having no support. This unit works well, though similarly made to other device that I had tried. The program that comes with this unit is very easy to use and I have successfully transferred several of my Grandfather's book readings from when I was a child to a format that will hopefully be easy to share with the rest of my family and not be lost! Within a few days I had transferred 7 tapes of high sentimental value with little trouble. I would recommend this to a friend, and will likely be loaning it to a friend of mine!

Easily helps to convert cassettes to other source. It brings the cassettes into the computer and after that you can do use it anyway you want. Thanks.

You have a very nice product but the sequence on set up to tape could be made easier. Your product produces some pretty good music. I am enjoying this immensely.

I purchased a similar product that was not good at all, so thinking(you get what you pay for) if I purchase this one which was a little more expensive thinking it would be better. The item ended being the exact same item with a different label.....the quality of the transfer from tape to mp3 with this unit was even worse compared to the cheaper one....terrible!!! there was a buzz throughout the whole transfer. The cassette player was made of flimsy plastic, and no earphones to boot. Disappointed, I really wanted this to work! Don't let the prices fool you all these items are made by the same company
