So glad I bought this DVD!
Dance the Chakras has all the great features of the other Ana and Ravi DVD's I have and more. I can do most of the moves, and the class just flows, in spite of my scoliosis and other challenges. I feel the exercises are in a natural progression; therefore, I feel I am doing what comes naturally. The DVD is one hour, not too much. The dancing, particularly the victory dance in Dance the Chakras is very feminine, and very empowering. I am really working! Great that I do not have to master the dances. The transitions/relaxations/meditations in between exercises are both welcome, and therapeutic. I am very impatient, and I thought I would resist succumbing to some long relaxations/meditations.One of my favorite exercises is in the beginning when we bring our heels to the insides of our legs repeatedly, breathing with the rhythm, pulling in our feet, keeping the heels a bit away from the thighs.I have difficulty with some physical exercise; I do not have a whole lot of energy, I am not very limber, and I have a curvature of the spine. Fortunately for me, as I began with Ana and Ravi's Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond around 9 months ago (virtually out of shape), I enjoy breath of fire, and have a capacity for most of the exercises in these DVD's.I like the shoulder stand. It is not too risky for me to do that, and even to put my legs parallel. I have bone density issues and take the safe route. I adapt to most exercises in my own way, with the tips on the DVD, and still get a great workout. Ana and Ravi challenge me, yet do not push me without a cushion to fall back on.I am 52 years old. If I can do it, I am sure a lot of people can. When the workout calls for me to lean all the way back and put my hands on my heels (camel pose?), I simply lift and stretch my neck back as far as I can while holding it still, lifting my chest, and holding my hands behind my upper hips. I still feel the workout. The breathing really stimulates me.I always make sure I do the spinal exercises. As a whole, these DVD's help my back, but the fluidity of the spinal exercises make me aware that I am loosening up inside.A great deal of emphasis is put on the glands and other organs in the body. I like when I know what I am working on when I am working it, and why.The exercises are all good for the core! All of the DVD's have great tummy exercises. This is not traditional Hatha yoga. The moves are just as strengthening and lengthening, though, and quite aerobic for me. I prefer this Kundalini Yoga because of the breathing, and the Chakra work. Also, the moves are more sensual. It is quite easy to get a good picture of what the Chakras mean when I do these DVD's.I wouldn't be doing Ana and Ravi justice without saying how beautiful Ana, the moves, the music and sound effects, the settings, the prose, and both their voices are. Still not doing justice. They both give inspiration and direction via voiceover, and you can even hear the correct breathing techniques, including long, deep breathing. My favorites are, in order: Yoga Beauty Body, the new updated Fat Free Yoga, Dance the Chakras, Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond, The first set of Journey through the Chakras, the Ultimate Stretch Workout, and Navel Power.I have not tried all of them, or the newest DVD's, but I can tell you that I will definitely try more of them.Nope, I am not affiliated, just a tried and true customer.

Great DVD, great results...o.k dancing
I wish there was a way to give 4 and a half stars, but there is not. The production of this DVD is superb. The music is wonderful. I know yoga purists do not recommend to practice yoga with music, yet I noticed, a long time ago, that my favorite yoga class was set to music. I have done the yoga part 3 times only and I can already see the results: more tone in arms, more energy, better emotional well-being. My only disappointment with this DVD is the dance part. I dislike free flowing dance: I returned a previous DVD featuring people twirling around with music. It does nothing for me as freeflowing dance is something I can easily do at home or in a club and I have no problem expressing myself through movement. Also, I didn t sweat much and was expecting something more strenuous, and a few cool tribal dance movements I could learn. If you have done one bellydance class in your life, you can do the movements in the DVD easily. I was not expecting dance instruction, but a fun, high energy, easy to learn dancing routine...maybe something incorporating some Indian dance movements...I purchased the DVD because it said dance, and I thought the mix of yoga and dance would be wonderful. The DVD is worth it for the Yoga session, that is very effective. I am not too crazy about reciting mantra and long meditation, however, Ana and Ravi are not hitting you with too much piety as you go along. I will definitely buy another DVD from them, but this time, I will not have expectations of getting a tribal dance workout in it. I am a pragmatic person when it comes to exercise, and to end in a positive note, the yoga instruction itself is valuable and the results speak for themselves.

A really freeing workout
I never know what to expect from workouts that contain dance, but I love all of Ana and Ravi's other DVDs so I thought I'd try this one. I have the pre-Matrixed version :) It contains the usual breath primer and 'tune in' and then two yoga workouts (30 mins total) before you launch into the dance (30 mins). The workouts aren't too strenuous but do make a good effort to work different areas of your body- from shoulderstand with breath of fire to crow (kundalini version) and leg lifts.I always feel a little anxious while doing dance workouts that if I'm not really sweating I'm not actually getting a workout. The dance routines are divided into two sections. The second is actually a fun spinning lotus-mudra using routine and a free "trance" dance with singing. The first section contains enough free dancing moments that I don't always feel the need to do the trance portion. When I can get myself to stop fretting that I'm not dancing "right" I really enjoy doing these moves. They're great to shake me out of afternoon doldrums. I am not really coordinated, but these routines are very easy and more about relaxing and releasing emotion than burning calories or following complex choreography. The DVD breaks down the dances into four shorter routines if you have less time to spend. The meditation following the deep relaxation wasn't one of my favorites at first but the song grew on me and I even came to like the hand gestures. The mantra plays on the screen the entire time, so don't worry about jotting it down. I find it gets stuck in my head every time I do DtC.I wish every yoga DVD I own was like the Ravi/Ana ones, which really do cover body and mind evenly.

Love It!!
I have been completed obsessed haha with kundalini yoga for well over a year now. It has changed my life. I have had this DVD for a while now and I have used it most days. It is my second purchase of ana brett and ravi singh. Chakra dance is amazing. The ultimate feel good workout for your body AND your mind.

Great workout, but not my favourite
Ana is a wonderful instructor and Ravi's voiceover is so poetic, soothing, uplifting and positive. I love that they tell you how the poses and movements work all your organs, glands, and emotional blocks. The first half hour of this DVD is excellent. The second half hour is the dance part. There are a few dance sections that I really enjoy. They loosen your hips and energize you, but unfortunately some of the dance sections you do are free form while chanting with your eyes clothes and I find I get restless and bored doing this. Also one dance part you do with your eyes closed spinning in circles. This works to detoxify the liver, and I feel often very dizzy and ill after doing this. Because of this I choose this workout less often then my other kundalini workouts. It ends with a wonderful chant that makes me feel so happy, peaceful and positive. In fact, I often will do just the chant before I go to bed or if I need clarity of thought when I am upset. I am glad I have this workout for this chant alone which is not on any of their other productions that I know of. The good thing about Ana and Ravi's workouts are they are matrix so you can just do the parts you like. One final note, kundalini yoga is very different from Hatha yoga so I suggest you look at some previews on youtube on kundalini yoga first. I give this workout 4.5 stars out of 5.

Great workout.
I love this workout. I love Ana and have continued to do other kundalini workouts of hers. I feel her vibrancy is attractive and her approach, look and demeanor feel youthful and energetic. I have already reccomended it to others. Definitely worth buying!
