Pretty heavy duty pillow
I got this pillow because I have a smaller buckwheat pillow that I love to sleep with. I'll try to make this brief. I'm a light sleeper, I don't move very often when I sleep, and I have a history of migraine headaches. For the last several years, I have been searching for the "perfect" pillow that will make those times that I wake up with a migraine (due to poor sleep) fewer and farther between. I'm not a fan of memory foam pillows as they don't recover fast enough after resting your head for long periods of time (i.e. when you turn over, they tend to feel flatter or more lopsided than they should be). The littler buckwheat pillow that I have did a pretty good job, despite the fact that the size is really more of a travel pillow that I happened to sleep with most nights. This is why I was optimistic about ordering a bigger size. Let me tell you, it is definitely one of the pricier pillows that I have, however, the buckwheat is filled to the brim - something that was not a feature of my smaller pillow - which means, for your money, you get a nice amount of pillow to work with. Though this made the pillow a lot stiffer and harder to sleep on, the zipper feature allows you to adjust the amount of buckwheat your pillow holds. This is a benefit for me because I have slowly removed more and more over time to the point that I have filled up a steak size freezer bag to its full capacity which means when my pillow starts to feel a little flat after having it for a couple of years, I can put the rest of the buckwheat I have and bring it back to the level I want. The reason I removed a star is simply because I have been unable to find the "perfect" amount of stuffing for a great night's sleep and sometimes find myself going back to my smaller pillow once in a while. Even so, I remain optimistic that I will find the right amount of fill I need but as of today, I still have not found it. There is a small chance that the sheer size of the pillow just isn't as effective as the smaller size (i.e. too much room for the buckwheat to move around inside of it may be an issue while over-stuffing to prevent movement makes the pillow feel too stiff), and so the 4 star rating will remain. It's a good pillow, but not as great as it *could* be.Oh, one other thing I want to add is this bad boy is pretty hefty. The queen size for the buckwheat pillow means it'll be delivered in a big box (the biggest box I've received from an amazon order for a single item) and it'll be pretty heavy (the packing slip indicates 22 pounds). At the end of the day, I'm pretty satisfied with it - and that's saying a lot for a person who has 7 different pillow types that have been collected during my hunt for the perfect pillow.

First 1 lasted me 8 years so I bought another.
I originally purchased this exact pillow 8 years ago and it served me well but it was time for a new one. It’s not for everyone and just trying it only a week isn’t long enough to get used to it. I’m a side sleeper with bad discs in my back and the special trick with this pillow is to fluff it up first then lay your head on it with pressure while rocking your head a little from side to side. The pillow will then conform to your head and neck and your head neck and spine is in alignment. Yes it’s heavier than a regular pillow but now I can’t sleep on a regular so I bring this one even on vacation. The buckwheat hulls also sleep cooler compared to foam or fiber fill.

Awesome pillow!
Let me begin by saying that I have done some research before purchasing this pillow. I noticed that I no longer have neck pains and I've been having been nights of sleep after using this pillow. The pillow is quite heavy and it's not intended for you to keep moving it around. The price for buckwheat hulls, in my opinion, are quite expensive for what it's worth, but I guess it's worth it. When I first received the pillow, I opened it up and noticed that it is pretty dusty. The description did say they triple cleaned it to remove dust, but there is quite a large amount of it. I had to use a sieve and vacuum to get rid of the dust, however, I think it's also due to the usage of the pillow. The more you crush the buckwheat, the more it will disintegrate into dust [or at least that's what I think]. I took the hulls out to wash the case [this is my other reason for giving it 4 stars] and the case shrunk. I hand washed it in cold water and hung it up to dry... did not use warm or hot water and did not use a dryer so I did not expect the case to shrink. Buckwheat pillows apparently doesn't attract dust mites because there are no nutritional value for the dust mites, however, some studies have shown that buckwheat hulls from other regions outside the US can contain dust mites. The pillow stays cool throughout the night and you'll never have a warm pillow because the buckwheat hulls always circulate air. I have not tried a Temperpedic pillow before so I cannot give you a comparison, but it is definitely better than a down feather or cotton pillow for sure. It does take a couple nights to get use to it, but it is well worth it. When you first get the pillow, bean72 usually adds more buckwheat hulls into the pillows, so just take some out and store it in a ziplock bag somewhere to fill into your pillow at a later time.Once again, great buy and great for my neck and sleep... I just wish there was less dust and my pillow case holding the buckwheat hulls didn't shrink. Only two major disappointments.
