Good book on its own - even better with discussion
Some of the stuff in this book was intuitive. But a coworker and I both bought the book then discussed, and I was amazed at the different stuff he got out of it versus me. I think the book discussion elevated the book (and is probably true for any "self help" book). I probably would have ranked it three stars otherwise. It's worth a buy, and even more worth it if you discuss with someone else who reads it. It motivated me to find my weaknesses, and figure out a way to improve them. It also encouraged me to keep moving in my career, and to ask for more stuff.

Excellent book essential reading
I hate the career game but needed to know the rules. This book is perfect in telling you what you need to know about pronation. I learned I a lot though some of it is sad you need to know It. You can't advance in, win, or change the game if you don't understand its current rules. If you can please change the game please do its a rigged game and needs to be fixed or redone entirely.

This is a great resource for learning the basics of office politics 101
This is a nice quick read when you want to learn the basics of office politics. While reading this book I looked back over my career in Corporate America and I remembered almost every single mistake I've made. If I could live it over I definitely would've done a few things differently. I remember a lecture I attended maybe 6-7 years ago. It was held by this guy who trained Senior Level Managers to become CEO's, CAO's and CFO's.. Anyways, he gave the crowd a survey to complete. He asked what are the most important aspect of your job - apply a percentage. Majority of the crowd applied the highest percentage to How well you know and how well you do your job. He gave us the survey from how CEO's completed it.. They gave the highest percentage to HOW MUCH CREDIT YOU RECEIVE on the job. It completely changed my outlook. This book will help guide your performance in Corporate America.

Meticulous planning, constant upgrading of skills and many other softer aspects of managing people is required if one wants to move ahead in a career. Through easy to read bites supported with real life examples, the book takes you through what needs to be done to move up the ladder. Good read!
