I would give this tray ten stars if I could. It solves a problem 100% that is otherwise insanely difficult to deal with: ants getting into food left out for my cats. I was hesitant to spend the money on this rather pricey bit of molded plastic, but I've now had it in daily use for 7 months and it is an absolute sanity saver. If you feed your pets raw homemade food that you leave out for any length of time you will know what a battle that can create with attracting ants. This tray has entirely eliminated the problem, and does so virtually over night.So long as the water tank in the bottom is filled (I disagree with the reviewer who said it isn't necessary) and the tray is fully stand-alone & not touching any walls or furniture or other objects an ant could climb up, they simply cannot reach the food & quickly disappear.With older cats with health issues, feedings are now much more frequent than when they were younger. So I was at my wits' end about leaving a little snack out for them when I went to bed - never knowing if it might sit out for hours and attract ants. This tray makes it a non-issue. Worth every penny even at this high price. Goodbye, pests!

I bought one of these trays last year, and liked it so much that I bought a second one (for a different location) this year. My only gripe with the product (and it's a small gripe) is that you have to crook your finger and stick it in the "moat" to determine the water level. Two tips for using this product: 1. Fill with a small watering can with a narrow spout. Keep you finger over the spout until you've positioned the spout over the filling port. Otherwise, you'll spill water all over the top of the tray. 2. If your pet is like mine, remember to keep an eye on the floor around the tray, to make sure there are no pieces of pet food on the floor where ants can find it. (This can be greatly reduced by placing your pet's dish toward the center of the tray.) This product works!

About two years ago I bought a product similar to this, which I absolutely loved. I found myself in need of another one. I have a cat I have to keep in a separate room away from my other cats due to her illness. The original product I had purchased is no longer available, and this was actually one of the only other similar products I could find. I thought since it was the same concept, it would work the same way. WRONG!The first evening I used it, it seemed to work. When I put my cats dinner down, she'll eat most of it, but leave a little bit to snack on during the evening. I came in after a while and she still had food in her dish and no ants. The second day however, after I had put her food down and then came in to check on her, her food dish was full of ants.If I could give this minus 5 stars I would! This product cost me more than the other ones I had bought, and it's garbage. I have called to return the product, but now have to wait because their computers are down and they can't give me a return shipping number. If you are thinking of buying this, don't waste your money.

Whoooooooo doggie. This one needs a little unpacking (no pun intended).This product was very easy to put together, easy to use, easy to fill, etc.On the other hand....This product eas easy to slosh, easy to fill with ants, easy to infect the water in the reservoir (if you want to leave it in there more than a day, as it claims is fine, hope you're open with vet bills that make the cost of this product seems like a cortisone shot).Fact of the matter is, this is a really good idea that just doesn't work. News flash friends: ants can swim... at least, enough if they're yhoro7ghly motivated.This product is well intentioned but it doesn't work and the mess caused every few days by refilling it is not worth the initial purpose.I, personally, feel this product is overlyarrested for the effectiveness one can expect. Very disappointed and would not recommend.Having said that. this product does beat the chalk method I've tried in the past. Almost 2 stars for that reason.

If you really need to block ants -- this is it. One issue it's hard to pull the trays apart for washing. I haven't been successful yet. So, I just use the Waterhouse jet setting and some bleach and hope there is no crude left behind. Bought the tray for my catio.

A little on the pricey side, but totally worth it. I haven't had any ants in my dogs food or water, or my cats food or water. I was having such a horrible ant problem, I must have thrown out at least 10 bowls of food, so in the long run, I guess this will end up being cheaper than wasting food all the time.

Had so much trouble keeping cats food free of ants. This is wonderful. Wish I had ordered sooner. Now if I can only keep the possum out. :-)
