This model by Humax are excellent recorders.
I have not used the item yet. When I do I will re-submit my review. The item appears in good condition on taking it out of the box. I am sure it will work very well as it is replacing the same model I am using currently.

Record TV
You can record several programmes at once and it stores them in title orders

Good value but human interface could be a lot better
Good at recording/playback of broadcast channels and its good value for money and setup is easy. Human interface was much better on earlier Humax models - you can't even store recordings in seperate directories, they are all thrown in together in a single directory, with no indication of each programmes length without selecting it. It is also sometimes sluggish to respond to the remote control. EPG would be better if it displayed more channels per screen instead of just 7, and gave a brief programme description when hovering, instead of having to select the programme and go to a different screen to see the description. You can't record the programme you are watching on an app, and ITVX is non operational.

Could be great but too buggy.
Set up was very straightforward. Worked well. Freeview Play button very useful as a central menu. I liked the ability to plug in USB storage and download from it. Sadly I also found it to be very buggy. EG. When using the You Tube app, on loading the SEARCH window the keyboard very annoyingly disappears as you attempt to navigate it. Not good.

Excellent service
Excellent service from this company. I live in Spain and accidentally ordered the wrong product They phoned me and talked me through what I needed Product arrived within a week and is now set up and working perfectly. Im a 70 year old technophobe and managed to set it up myself

do not even think about buying this heap of trash! please read the multitude of bad reviews!
Humax FVP-5000T 1TB Freeview Play HD TV Recorder would be really good if all the hype about it was true and it worked and you could actually get to use it! I could not get it to function properly at all, the remote to control it was completely dysfunctional and would not respond to anything you wanted, the software (or hardware) that runs the system is extremely sloooooooooooooooow and inadequate to handle what you need to do with the box, its truly unfit for purpose and very highly overrated by what hifi.com i feel they have had a pre-release magical prototype hybrid just for them to demo it and give it 5 stars! or more likely took a big fat backhander for the review they gave it, who knows but I wouldn't take there word on anything anymore. humax used to be a brand you could rely on but not any more though with this model, I sent it back the very next day after buying it. after much research Ive ended buying a Manhattan T3-R Freeview Play 4K Smart Recorder 1TB and believe me it is the best thing since sliced bread, its an all singing and dancing quad core processor that's almost faster than my car, lol! its British made and doesn't come with anything fancy cable wise, no Ethernet cable or Ariel link but every penny spent on this has gone into making it do what it says on the tin!

OK for freeview forget about the laughable catch up apps though
Fairly cheap and not many other competitors in this field which probably explains why they cant be bothered to get any of the advertised catch up apps to work reliably. A quick Google and look through the Humax forums will probably tell you all you need to know on the quality of this product. In summary OK for Freeview but if you think you will be able to use the catch up apps advertised as included then save yourself the disappointment and take it from me that they won't work and if they do they will be broken by some random update or other on a regular basis
