FUDGE works!
The FUDGE system is by far the best I have found. I have played a variety of game systems (mostly Dungeons and Dragons 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions, Palladium, Dark Conspiracy, White Wolf, and others) and find myself again and again searching for the versatility I find with FUDGE. The system makes sense. Not only that, it is a system that is easily explained to new players. A challenge I have had with other gaming systems is that I have found myself spending lots of time flipping through books or finding rules that are difficult to memorize. I would find myself "fudging" rules just to keep game play at a good pace. With FUDGE, that kind of gaming is encouraged. It is a system that facilitates good story telling while incorporating enough dice roles to retain that aspect of playing RPGs. And, if it is a rule heavy system with more details that you crave, FUDGE can offer that. All of the details you need are in the book, but are presented as suggestions or ideas so that the game master can craft a rule set that works for him/her and the players. The FUDGE system can be used with any genre of gaming and can easily be used to adapt games that you already like to play. My players and I have adapted some old D&D characters to FUDGE to continue campaigning, and have opened up possibilities for them that weren't before possible. We love it. With that said, FUDGE also puts a bit more responsibility on the part of the game master compared with other games I've played, which I see as a plus, but makes the system so that it might not be right for all game masters. Some game masters rely on rules to keep them in check and not let a campaign become unbalanced. For this type of game master, the FUDGE system may offer too much freedom, potentially ruining a campaign. But, for me, gaming is about telling a good story, having fun, and playing a character you enjoy exploring. For that, FUDGE is the best I've found. And, it's cheap. You only need a set of FUDGE dice and this main rule book. Right on Steffan O'Sullivan!

Extensive workbook for roleplay-design
The Fudge 10th Anniversary Ed. is a massive book covering all styles of gameplay. Though the Fudge-system is some of the most simple ones, there are several different choices to be made concerning the overall appearance of the Fudge you as player or gamemaster wish to use. A well worked out exemplar system for Fantasy Fudge is included, though, along with a practical bestiary. However, the book is more of an extensive cook-book than a fast-food meal. It may take some time working out the way best suited ones own game and style. The work is worth it, though. The Fudge dynamics are engaging and inspiring. The book is designed in a somewhat nostalgic fashion with few original art, but with a GURPS-like tone to it. Its far from glossy and has the appearance of having been around for a while. Recommended for those seeking simplicity and functionality, but also willing to put a little effort in, at least in the beginning.

Incredible book
This book is like drinking from the fire hose of amazing ideas. While at times feels more like a collection of great articles - the amount of ideas you can get from just reading one section and tweaking your version of Fudge provides tremendous value. It's a great expansion to the already freely available Fudge SRD. I have found that since buying the book and getting into it - I am probably not going to be playing anything else for a long while.

Not just the Internet version
If you've seen the version of Fudge floating around on the Internet since 1995, you'll no doubt know a bit about how Fudge works. What's great about the 10th anniversary book is the expansion of those rules. This is not just another repackaging of the rules, but also includes essays from other well-known authors that expand the rules and give more ideas for the budding GM or game-designer to use for their game. This is an excellent book, and a must-purchase for any fan of Fudge.

It's been a real paradigm shift for me and not an easy one, but I'm glad I made the leap ...
I'm an old school DnD player and this was my first purchase of a more generic rule system. It's been a real paradigm shift for me and not an easy one, but I'm glad I made the leap with Fudge. It's a great system and since it is very meta Fudge can be used to create just about any setting or scenario you want.

The BEST MSH system.
This is a great system, with endless depths of customization possible even when using just the provided options. Highly Recommended. FATE stemmed from this system and STILL doesn't match it.
