The AGRO® is based on the saturation channel of Aguilar’s celebrated AG 500 bass head. Capable of producing everything from warm, tube-like overdrive to full on distortion, this pedal will give you the grind you need without sucking out your low end. The AGRO® offers a wealth of overdriven sounds within an easy to use, 4-knob layout. The Saturation control offers a tremendous range of distortion while the Contour control allows you to dial in a scooped or a more aggressive boosted midrange sound. The Presence knob adds the right amount of ‘attack’ ensuring that your bass remains defined even with the most saturated settings. The output level control guarantees that you’ll be able to get the distortion you want at any volume level.

Solid
Great pedal!I had been reading reviews prior to buying, mostly looking at the negative comments, but I have no issues. The saturation and presence knobs are your best friends on this pedal. The contour knob is good to play with but in my opinion you can leave it anywhere in the mid range and it sounds great. Another sweet feature is the "level" knob acts as it's own volume control so when you kick it on you can be sure not to destroy a building. Solid design, simple yet elegant. I did not purchase an adapter, Aguilar boasts over 100 hours of playability with one battery... I'm going to test that. Also good for riffing, Pump the saturation knob up and you can pretty much play any guitar riff with your bass, the distortion is nice and grumbly and the presence knob keeps it from getting sloppy. Tune your bass down and it just gets better from there.Enjoy!

"O" overdrive.

Avoids the typical pitfalls, delivers very usable crunch
This may be the most usable overdrive bass pedal I've tried. And I've tried a few others. There's two or three problems that they can typically have. First, they lose too much low end. Most pedals combat this by giving you a blend knob. Aguilar doesn't--but the Agro doesn't seem to need one. Second, they can have baked-in tone shaping that's hard to defeat if you don't like it. The Agro does not have this problem. The contour knob has a 900 hz cut knob (contour). I kind of like mine fully scooped. That seems to match my unaffected tone. The third problem is the "flavor" of the dirt circuit. Some I like, some I don't. Some are flatulent sounding, others are ultra modern and fizzy sounding. The Agro is just instant crunch. Very usable for me at noon.

Amazing Bass Distortion
I haven't had much experience with other bass overdrive pedals, but it is hard to imagine one better than the Agro. It literally can go from a slight extra grit, to heavy almost lead guitar distortion, while sounding superb the whole time. It can give you pretty much any overdriven tone there is. I can use this for a classic rock tone like Geddy Lee, then a heavy solo tone like Cliff Burton (RIP). I use it mostly with my band where we play modern punk and metal. This sounds great with a pick if you want an ADTR type tone, but also sounds great with really heavy stuff like Job for a Cowboy. And never does this pedal lose the low end. The contour knob can cut or boost mids perfectly, while the presence knob is perfect to add trebles and clarity. While this pedal can make many different tones, it always sounds amazing. I highly recommend this to everyone looking for aggressive bass sound.
