K9 Schutzhund Training: A Manual for IPO Training through Positive Reinforcement (K9 Professional Training Series) Flexibound – September 23, 2014

The book material and binding are durable and have allowed me to travel around and read when I have a minute to do so. The content is knowledgeable and dense. Most books are quick and easy to read, but this one has me reading, stopping to process information, testing statements and processes, and then picking the book back up to read some more. I don't know if I'll ever enter into Shcutzhund competitions with my pup, but I can definitely use many of the techniques to improve our skills and challenge my pup.

This is a great, step by step, positive training manual for IPO. While you cannot do it all yourself, the portions that you can do are clearly laid out in the book. They have also included some exercises you can do on your own that relate to some of the protection exercises.I definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in IPO. I would also recommend their other books on behavior and training. They do a great job explaining things as simply as possible.

This is a great manual for Schutzhund/IPO and provides specific details about the trials (I would still cross-check the regulations, though, as they change with time). It includes well thought-out tips about the different phases and offers insight to help you begin training. This book is great for helping you plan and lay out your own training agenda. It is intended for the early training stages to prepare you for professional instruction. You should have at least an intermediate understanding of canine training to use this book effectively. The only reason I give this book 4 stars is because it tends to get long-winded in the introduction sections where the author gets distracted with preaching their opinions. I expected a more well-rounded approach to the use of positive reinforcement but that is not the case. This book is VERY preachy and opinionated, but a good read if you skip the opinion sections.

This is an excellent book. I have no experience with dog training in general or schutzhund in particular. The author does a very good job of walking the reader through the sport, what to expect, and how to move forward.I haven't started the training yet, but the book has given me the confidence to move forward.

This is an excellent book on Schutzhund/ I.P.O. training for all three levels. It's in simple, easy to understand language and walks you through all three (tracking, obedience, protection) phases on each level. It's a must read for anyone in Schutzhund/ I.P.O. training or anyone going into it.

Good book. High quality print. Excellent starter manual. This book goes over all the basic exercises, what to expect, and how to do it.

Very good, easy to understand, good step by step guide. Very nice.
