Very good quality plastic that is easily painted. Very happy with purchase.

I use these all the time now when painting around the house - they make the switches and outlets blend in to the walls. They hold paint much better than trying to use the cheap plastic ones. First saw them at the local big-box store, but Amazon carries a larger selection (triple-gang switches, etc.), although the single-gang are cheaper at the store. Highly recommend!

I ordered this switchplate because I needed an oversize switchplate and the item description had the dimensions of this one at 6" x 5.7", which would meet my needs perfectly. However, I was extremely disappointed when it arrived because this is your average switchplate with dimensions of 4 3/4" x 4 3/4". It does not meet my needs nor does it meet my expectations. I am extremely disappointed with this product and whoever it is that is responsible for the descriptive data of these products. So, BE FOREWARNED: this item is NOT as described. It is not as large as the description says it is.

Maybe they are good for painting, but unpainted the color and texture doesnt match standard switches or receptacles.

I have installed these many times in my house. Each time a new room is remodeled and the switches are replaced. I have been using these for about eight years. They hold up to kids and are easy to clean off the hand prints. I bought enough to do the whole house.
