A LESSON WELL LEARNED: ONLY USE GENUINE CARTRIDGES
Ok, I'll briefly list the good, the bad, and my overall opinion of and recommendations for the product. The Good:- Price of the product. This one should be obvious enough. When I first purchased the product, they sent me 10 ink cartridges for a grand total of little under $7 (which has, as I'm writing this review, dropped significantly since then).- Yield. I wasn't expecting to get nearly as many pages of quality prints for each cartridge as I did... Well, while it lasted to say the least. My first (and only!) black cartridge printed a little over 100 pages. Assuming all the other cartridges worked just as well, this would've meant that the number of pages per $1 of this product would've been a whopping (4 * 100)/($6.42 * 40%) = 156 (approximated) pages! Unfortunately, they didn't; only 1 of the 4 black cartridges worked AT ALL - which brings me to 'The Bad'...The Bad:- Crappy seals. Like some of the other reviews state, there's a seal (which is what covers the ink and is what prevents the thing from leaking all over the place) over all the cartridges. Now, when you first get the product, you'll have no trouble at all opening these seals, like I did. Then, you'll go on to think that all the other reviewers didn't know what they were talking about/it was all a fluke. Let some time pass, though, and you'll quickly find that for one reason or another the seals become harder and harder to open until, eventually, you find yourself using every sort of knife and scissor at home trying to open that which you once could with your hands.- Yield. One could interpret the fact that the yield of one of these cartridges being 200% less than that of a genuine Brother cartridge as a 'con'. Then again, at these prices, that wouldn't really be an issue. Then again, when I say 'Yield' I also mean... how many of the cartridges they give you will actually end up working. Perhaps I should admit that I never ended up using any of the color cartridges; just the black. Regardless, it would appear to me that there is a certain 'Time Decay' factor at work with this product - i.e. the longer you have it, the less likely you can expect it to work.- Damaging your printer. This is the real take-home lesson I had from using these cartridges that has ultimately convinced me that the cost-effectiveness of the product was not work the risk of damaging my brand-new Brother MFC-J430W. For the first 100 pages, the ink cartridges worked great. Fantastic. After I used up my first cartridge, however, I ran into the problems of trying to get my seals off, and, at times, even had to shove the cartridge into my printer - which, I believe, ultimately ended up slightly damaging the area that accepts the ink cartridges. Furthermore, I believe using non-genuine cartridges have also had the added effect of damaging the ink-line/tubing of my Brother MFC-J430W. After I decided that the other 9 cartridges wouldn't work and had thrown them all aside, I put in a genuine cartridge by Brother and for the first 20 or so pages I tried to print, I got uneven, inconsistent print jobs. Thanks to the Brother's incredible on-line support center, I eventually found out that my printer had a 'Clean' functionality that, after 2 sweeps, returned the print jobs back to normal, working order before I began using these fake cartridges.BOTTOM LINE: These cartridges' initial performance as well as their sticker price will have you convinced that you've found some sort of ink-goldmine. With the cost of ink these days, too, that'll be a big convincing factor. After some time, however, you'll find that they're cheap for a reason (and, as I've noticed, have become even cheaper since my initial purchase by more than $3 or 50%!). The build of these imitation cartridges, if you'd compare them to a genuine cartridge, is shoddy and they have a weird shape. The seals will eventually fail you. And the more you use this product's ink, the more damage you'll be doing (although it won't be noticeable at first, since its harming effects take hold slowly). I'd suggest you stay away from this product in the first place but, hey, I'm just another nonsensical reviewer that doesn't know what he's talking about, right? Fine then. Go ahead. The initial results will leave you feeling impressed at this product, but later you'll find and learn that the inexpensiveness of the product does not compare to all the frustrations you'll have to deal with later. In the end, you'll wind up with: 1) 9 wasted cartridges, 2) a damaged printer, and 3) a really bitter attitude towards this product. Thankfully, Brother's awesome customer service website was able to help me out with a jacked-up printer and for that I will be forever grateful.Just don't bother with this product. It will end up damaging your printer and leave you feeling frustrated with all the wasted cartridges. Listen to Brother when they tell you use ONLY GENUINE INK CARTRIDGES.**Sorry for the length/poor writing quality of this review. My head hurts a lot and it was kind of written in haste. I hope you'll still find it useful though!****Also, as much as it may seem like it - I was not paid to write this review or anything like that. I'm just sharing my opinions and observations with others so that they can learn from my experiences and mistakes**

Follow the instructions
These are, as the ad states, NOT genuine Brother ink cartridges. I ordered a couple different brands and couldn't believe how inexpensive they were. I have a Brother MFC-J280W wireless printer. I also have a Brother wirless laser printer (the cartridges for that are VERY expensive). For that reason I purchased the inexpensive inkjet printer. Generally, all printer manufacturers sell the printers cheap and get you on the ink. This seemed too good to be true; inexpensive printer AND a source of ink lower than I have ever seen (even when I used to purchase the kits that let you refill ink cartridges).Without knowing if they would work or not I ordered this large package you see that goes with this review because they were so cheap. I figured if they didn't work I had lost very little. And several of the reviews warned of leaking cartridges and an assortment of other problems (many of which wouldn't have happened if they had just read the instructions that come with the cartridges). The instructions don't take a rocket scientist to follow. In short, I went through the "starter" cartridges that came with the printer in no time (I'm writing a book and like to print things out and read them on actual paper and not just computer screens. Well, I followed the instructions, which are simple, put in the new cartridges (waiting for a nuclear explosion of ink), started to print...and almost to my disappointment only one thing happened...it printed clearly, no smudges, dried quickly, page of text. I have had no problems at all and the everything has gone fine. I also found a friend had bought this same printer at Staples (for about $30 more) and the genuine Brother ink cartridges. Basically, for what he paid for the genuine ink cartridges (1 set of 4 cartridges) he could have bought about NINE SETS of the "compatible" cartridges I bought. Actually, he could have more of the compatibles (I forgot that he had bought the standard fill cartridges and the compatible cartridges are HIGH YIELD - twice the pages per cartridge). Even with the horror story reviews I've read about these, my experience was nothing but positive and I WOULD recommend them to anyone.

It works an the ink doesn't smear!
I specifically bought my Brother J430W because of this cheap ink always on amazon. I have owned it for about 6 months and it has worked flawlessly. The ink lasts a long time and I have finally found the perfect ink and printer combo to not have to worry about the cost of printing.I did encounter a few problems:When changing out the black cartridge for the second time, I kept getting the "low ink error". I tried everything from cleaning the tips to restarting and re-installing everything. Finally what fixed it was putting a piece of black electrical tape around the clear part of the cartridge between the top and bottom piece that plug into the printer. Hope that made sense. Anyway, this is where the printer checks the ink levels and for whatever reason kept saying mine was 100% empty when in fact it wasn't. I even tried other Brothers brand ink cartridges and it was still giving me the same issue. But blocking this finally fixed all the problems and gave me a printer to use again. The other issues was sometimes the ink pin (the top one that sticks into the printer) was shifted to the left or right. This would give me some kind of error that was really annoying. What fixed this was pushing it in and adjusting it to the middle. This was it will slide straight in with the cartridge.Overall, I am still going to continue buying these cheap ink cartridges and printer away! I am hoping someone can chime in and tell me what caused the errors. Is this my actual printer going bad? Or is this something caused buy this cheap ink? I am also hoping others can comment about other problem/solutions they encountered with this ink as well.I hope I saved some people some trouble and hours of stress. I will hopefully update in a couple months.

Exploded in the printer
Itβs very hard to get the ink out with the plastic on it but when you try and to remove it the price blocking the ink comes out. Had to throw the printer out
