Pelle Patch - Leather & Vinyl Adhesive Repair Patch - 25 Colors Available - Heavy-Duty 8x11 - Off-White

I have a leather recliner purchased over a decade ago that is super comfortable but got a hole in the top area right where my head rests. There is nothing whatsoever worn on the seat, back, arms, or foot rest.After going to multiple stores looking for a new one and not finding anything quite as comfortable as well as how my head and neck was angled to watch TV, I got a brainstorm to see if leather patches were available.Lo and behold there were a number of patches made exactly for what I needed and I got the 8 x 11 Pelle Patch in dark brown. The dark brown ended up being a perfect color match for the recliner color and I do mean perfect.I didn't cut it just for the size of the hole and used the entire 8 x 11 patch since it blended in so great. The original leather was soft and not drawn tightly on the back of the chair and head area which made me wonder if I'd have problems with the patch lifting or curling up like I read about in the review section from those with negative experiences.After ONE day it started lifting and curling at the corners and edges. It was disappointing because I didn't want to buy a new chair for somewhere between $1,700 - $2,300 and know they weren't as comfortable because I had already tested them.Then the second brainstorm hit. A number of months back I purchased something called Shoe-Fix Glue to repair a pair of shoes where the soles came loose from the bottom of the shoe. It worked like a charm on the shoes so I thought what if I tried it on the leather patch with the leather chair.BINGO! I squeezed a thin amount on a plastic knife and applied it to all the corners and edges and pressed down for about 15-20 seconds to bond and dry. All is now good and it sure beats a $2,300 expenditure for a new chair.If you go this route with the Pelle Patch or other brands, I would highly suggest you also purchase Shoe-Fix Glue at the same time, just in case.

Update: Lowered to 3 stars. After 1.5 months, for the two places I used the Pelle patches on the sidearm, both patches are curling up and coming off suggesting not very good adhesive and durability. In fairness though, both patch locations are in awkward places on the side arm and that may have contributed to it. At some point I may try again with the MastaPlasta instead (which so far is holding great on the back).Original review:Extremely easy to use. It is not as thick as the MastaPlasta patches (which probably offer better longterm durability), however its lower profile/sleekness makes it blend in more easily and not seem as awkward. I actually had ordered both the MastaPlasta and this patch because I didn't know which would be best or the right color for my chair. I decided to use them both. In the before-after pictures below, the large main holes on the back were patched with the MastaPlasta and the ones on the side arm were patched with this Pelle Patch. Both came out alright but the Pelle Patch ones like I said are smoother and have a better fit. While they worked well for the side arm, I'm not sure I would have wanted to use the Pelle Patch on the large holes on the back because it is seemingly not as durable as the MastaPlasta and since that is a spot that's likely to have a lot of wear, I'm not sure the Pelle Patch would hold up as well for that. Then again, I really don't know and for all I know the MastaPlasta won't hold up long term either - time will tell. One other difference between the two brands: the MastaPlasta already has rounded corners so you don't have to cut as much. Since I used the entire MastaPlasta sheet for the chair back, this meant that I didn't need to cut any corners at all for it and could just apply it, whereas with this Pelle Patch I would have had to round the corners myself (which is extremely easy to do of course but perhaps not quite as professional looking as pre-cut corners). In the final analysis, I believe both patch brands seem to have their place and which one is "best" probably depends on the specific application. But don't be afraid to give this Pelle Patch a try.

I really wanted this to work for me, but nope, it didn't.I had a couple not so big tears in my leather car seat from getting in and out for years. I ordered these patches, and the color and grain matched perfectly. I cut large sections so that the edges wouldn't be as likely to show, and also so that they went beyond the areas that get wear from getting in and out. I am an instruction follower, and let me tell you, nobody could have done a better job applying those patches. I was ridiculous about getting them on right. I measured, I smoothed, and my husband thought I was crazy for staying in my garage for a couple hours getting it just right. I even got a little Gorilla glue and put a bit around the very edges, just so it wouldn't have a chance to even start peeling.Well, you can look at my pictures to see what eventually happened. It looked really good at first and I was quite proud of myself. Then I started seeing an edge lifting up here and there, and I would just smooth it back down and pretend that everything was fine. Then one day, when I hadn't driven my car in a week or so, I went out and saw basically what the pictures show. I would say that the patches stayed on pretty much for about three or four months, as long as I was smoothing it a bit every day. By the way, it was during the summer, but my car stays in my garage, not out in the glue-melting sun. The white stuff you see in the pictures in the sticky backing from the patches. So not only does it come unstuck from your leather, but also from its own "leather". My car looked far better with the tears than like this, lol. Oh well, the search continues.I gave it two stars instead of one because the patches did match my leather so nicely, and also because maybe they do better on furniture than on car seats.

ich habe eine dunkle Ledercouch an der ich hänge und die sehr gemütlch ist. Obwohl sie sehr bequem ist ist sie nicht ultra weich dh die Oberfläche wird nicht sehr beansprucht wenn man sich setzt oder liegt.Nachdem meine Haushälterin es geschafft hat beim entfernen eines Flecks das Leder an einer Stelle so weit durchzuscheuern das es einriss suchte ich nach einer dezenten Möglichkeit die Couch zu flicken ohne jetzt nähen zu müssen.Die zu flickende stelle ist ca 7 x 7 cm groß.Nach einiger Amazon recherche stieß ich auf dieses Produkt das zu liefern versprach was ich suchte.Nach einer lieferzeit von mehreren Tagen (standard bei Amazon sind mittlerweile 1-2 Tage) kam der "selbstklebende Reparaturflicken" an.Hier meine Erfahrung:positiv:Das Lederimitat sieht gut aus und fügt sich tatsächlich nahtlos auf eine bestehende Oberfläche ein. Es bringt erst einmal alles mit um als Flicken brauchbar zu sein.Nach dem zurechtschneiden wird einfach die Folie im unterne Bereich abgezogen wodurch man den Flicken dann sauber aufbringen kann. Bei gößeren Flächen ist es am einfachsten die Folie anzulösen den Flicken an einer Seite anzubringen und dann während man ihn mit den Fingern glatt zieht die Folie unter dem Flicken langsam weiter herauszieht. Dadurch beugt man einfach einer Faltenbildung vor wenn man gößere Flächen flickt.Soweit also so gut.negativ:- Das Problem weshalb auch mein Titel "eher ein Scherzartikel" lautet ist fundamentaler Art. Nachdem der Flicken gelebt wird löst sich bereits Stunden nachdem der Flicken durch sitzen u.aeh. beansprucht wird der Flicken von seinem Kleber !Der Flicken ist nämlich folgendermaßen aufgebaut. (von unten nach oben)1) erste Klebeschicht die mit dem zu flickenden Gegenstand verbunden wird2) eine art Netz das dem Flicken Stabilität geben soll3) Kleber zur Flickenoberfläche (Lederimitat)4) Lederimitatnun (3) der Kleber zur Flickenoberfläche löst sich in windeseile. Das "Stabilitätsnetz" (2) bleibt also an der Couch haften während sich die Flickenoberfläche von Produkt löst. Und dies bereits nach Stunden.Erst an den Ecken, dann an den Seiten. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit muss man den Flicken ersetzen was dann aber zum Problem wird da das Netz wirklich gut an der Couch haften bleibt.Ich habe es 4x probiert auch an unterschiedlichen Oberflächen. Jedesmal das gleiche Ergebnis. Die Flickenoberfläche löst sich vom Rest des Reparaturflicken, also dem Netz. Das Produkt fällt sozusagen auseinander und man bleibt nur mit einer Sauerei da das Netz noch an Ihrer wertvollen Möbel klebenbleibt.Es ist mir absolut unverständlich wie man solch ein Produkt auf den Markt bringen kann. Der Flicken würde nur dann effektiv funktionieren wenn er auf einer Oberfläche angebracht würde die überhaupt nicht belastet wird. (zB die Rückseite einer Couch)Für alles andere kann ich aus meinen Erfahrungen nur abraten.

Der Vorbehalt und Nachteil besteht darin, dass die Korrekturflicken über eine gewisse Dicke verfügen und sich somit trotz ihrer hohen Klebekraft bei ständiger Reibung ablösen werden. Dies dürfte auch der Grund für die meisten Negativbewertungen sein. Also verwende ich dieses Produkt nicht für die Korrektur von Sitzflächen. Bei Rissen an seitlichen oder weniger exponierten Oberflächen sorgen die selbstklebenden Flicken aber definitiv dafür, dass die Sache wieder ordentlicher aussieht und die Risse zuverlässig verschlossen werden. Gerade an den Seiten entstehen gerne kleine Risse bzw. Materialschäden durch Anschrammen beim Transport, durch die Krallen von Haustieren oder einfach Verarbeitungsmängeln. Selbst verwendete ich diese Klebeflicken zur Ausbesserung von Rissen an einer faltbaren Sitztruhe. Sieht einfach schöner aus und erspart einen Neukauf, selbst bei einem so preiswerten Sitzmöbel.Positiv empfinde ich die Flexibilität beim Zuschnitt. Größe und Form kann man selbst bestimmen. Es stehen viele Farben zur Auswahl, während ich die transparente Ausführung bevorzuge. Ebenso haftet der Kleber sehr stark; an den Fingern befindlicher Klebefilm erfordert einigen Aufwand bei Entfernen. Bevor mir diese Reparaturflicken aufgefallen sind, versuchte ich mein Glück mit selbstklebender transparenter A4-Druckerfolie, welche leider nicht lange auf dem Kunstlederuntergrund haftete.Also für meinen Teil kann ich durchaus eine Empfehlung aussprechen. Natürlich unter dem angeführten Vorbehalt.:-)

Et voila, grâce à ce système ingénieux de patch en cuir, j'ai pu réparer mon petit fauteuil de lecture en simili-cuir, usé par mes lectures intensives ! On m'avait demandé 400€ pour le réparer... :D

The adhesive it comes with isn't very good; I used some leather glue at the suggestion of another reviewer and that seemed to help - at first. A month later though and most of the patches are already peeling off. It looks great while it's there, though, blends in well with the leather. Probably fine if it's on something that won't get touched much, but it didn't hold up long to people sitting on a leather sofa.

so this stuff is pretty great, but not at all perfect. the application was very easy, just round off the corners, heat the patches with a hair dryer, and apply pressure. it worked really well on the holes my corgi oh so loves to make on our leather couch.my only complaints would be the fact that the patches are very thick and raised. the colour is somewhat off, but that is completely understandable if you've had your couch for 5+ years and it's starting to show fading.for some reason or another I thought it would include more than one small piece. I would love to buy this again to finish my couch repair but the price is definitely a little steep for a single small sheet. I used the entire package and still would need 2+ more to finish repairing the tears on my couch.besides the fact the product is very raised where applied, and the amount you get for the price, this stuff is pretty awesome. I would recommend measuring the area you need to repair before purchasing this, as you may need to buy multiple or look for an alternative that has more sheets.
