Galangal has many excellent health benefits and is perfect in Thai cooking.. It is sort of like ginger, but also sweet. I ordered this for a special project because I apparently lost somethings during a recent move. This was a great value for the money, and the powder is from the pure root and has a great aroma.

Using this product for cooking Thai food

What can I say? We use this product as part of some recipes and so far we have used it once in an Indonesian rice and it tasted like before. I guess that might be good. Other recipes call for this too but we have not used it there yet. Give us a chance to use it more. Ask us next year.

Terrific product, it enhances authentic Thai and Indonesian cooking very nicely.

I used this to make Sate Padang. The food taste good. But since this is the first time I used it I don’t know the difference.

No flavour and has no taste. Either old or not real spice. Waste of money especially that I cannot return the product. Straight into garbage! If there was a -1 review, I would give it that! Disappointed!

Item was received damaged. There was no safety sealon the spice jar and the spice spilled all over the inside of the bag

The product smells nothing like Galangal, I won't dare try to cook with it. Also, while it claims to be Indonesian, the jar says 'Product of China'. This product is not eligible for return - I would give it 0 stars if I could.

While it has the smell of galangal, it does not form a paste or dissolve very well in anything. I tried to make some Tom yum broth, and the fine powder was impossible to strain out. Made the broth feel dusty in texture. The lack of any instructions or cooking direction made it that much worse. I Would not but it again or recommend it to anyone.

Mine arrived unsealed. Because of this it doesn’t seem safe for consumption.
