Summer Beach Party

A fun selection of songs from the early beach movies which is just enough and and at the same time not too much. In truth if we watch the movies and shut the screen off, many of the other numbers not in this collection were nothing more than filler only to compliment the flicks. So we get the key songs "Beach Party", "Pajama Party", "Bikini Beach" and rest which serve as a guide to the movies themselves. Individually not huge hits, but as a whole theme package of songs "Summer Beach Party" is a blast. Since hardly any of this stuff gets radio play this collection is refreshing. Hightlights: Nancy Sinatra's upbeat "Geronimo" was just as good as "Boots" and beyond. Attractive Donna Loren AKA "Dr. Pepper Girl" is very strong as a singer and should have been a bigger star. She does "It Only Hurts When I Cry" and two other songs . Jan and Dean's smooth "Ride The Wild Surf" from their most consistent regular album is a reminder of a talented duo who were robbed of what should have been after the terrible car crash by Jan Berry that ruined any possibility of future album growth. They were a lot more than funny...... The hot rod sound gets fair reprentation by a driving studio band who could really rev it up - The Rip Chords led by Bruce Johnston and Terry Melcher - "Hot Rod Roadster". Add in movie stars Frankie and Annette for what this album is - fun music and what we have is a dandy Beach/BBQ/Backyard Party album. A product of the times. For sure. Sometimes silly less serious sounds is OK on the right occasion. This one's for "Daddy-O", "The Big Kahuna", "Cow-a-bunga", Gidget and Dick Dale "King Of The Surf Guitar".

Back in 1965, I was in Vietnam.......doing my tour of duty with my Special Forces group....I remember special services, sending us the current movies, that were playing back in the states,beach blanket bingo, was one of them, and I must say that this movie is no award winner, but all us young guys, at the time!!...........we loved it!!.........we sent back the other movies that were sent to usand watched this movie,over and over again, for a taste of back home,and to forget the danger, that we were all in, back in those days. Well I didnt know that the music of that fun movie is available after all these years, I ordered it ASAP!!!!!!this movie and its music, is a part of baby boomer times, that in my opinion, were the best, and I"m looking forward to reciving this CD..........and enjoying it in my car, to relive the memories of wonderful music and times, I reccomend it to you, if your reading my review as well, enjoy!!

I liked 13 songs on this album. This time some people sing the song that they sung in the film. I love these films and the music. Now that Annette has passed away, I'm hoping someone will reissue her music and do a special cd or anthology of her work, both solo and duets she did. You don't have to be from the 60's to love music. And this is one cd that will take you along for a ride. Not all of the beach party films' music is on this cd, but there are some great songs just the same.

Who can forget the sand and surf movies that became a genre all their own? This CD compiled several hard to find songs from the beach movies, however, the CD isn't by any means complete. It's missing several tunes from the Frankie and Annette "Beach Party" movies, completely avoids Elvis' "Blue Hawaii", only covers the theme from "Ride the Wild Surf", and doesn't include any of the songs from the "Gidget" movies. Still, though, the sound quality of the CD is fabulous, and I would suggest this collection as a great start for any "Beach Party" fan.

Annette and Frankie Rule!!!!!! These movies were the teenage genre movies of the '60s. The teenage movie genre has changed over the years but the one element they all have is fun. The kids look like they're having fun and it's just fun to watch the movies. I recommend these songs for people who want to see what their parents did long ago.. They might be surprised.

Good collection of songs from the Beach Party movies. Especially liked the movie version of Donna Loren's "It Only Hurts When I Cry".Some tunes are missing, but overall the cd is well done.

If you love those beach movies from the 60's, this is for you. It takes you down memory lane when surfing and hot rods ruled the day. It is a shame we are losing a lot of those terrific actors who performed in those movies. They are classics. So get out your "Eric Von Zipper" jacket and buy this CD.

Summer Beach Party could have been a lot better. I only liked couple of songs. Donna Loren sings the best songs of the movies. She has a great voice and still to day sing her best song it only hurts when I cry, only thing is it just guitar and singing witch is great but the studio song with her and guitar could have been faster. I guess when your 69 years old or more you slow down. But over all good singing and song.

60年代初期はアメリカでビーチ・ムービーというビキニの女性がたくさん出てくる御気楽映画がたくさん出来ました。今見てもこれらはなんの曇りもない明るさ一色でとても楽しめます。　このＣＤはこうしたビーチ･ムービーでしか披露されなかった音楽をまとめたものです。この時代はサーフィン・ホットロッドの曲の流行と同時で、レアな音源がたくさん収められています。　まず、なんといってもすごいのがHow To Stuff A Wild Bikiniです。キングスメンがこんな映画に出ていたということも面白いですが、曲も快活でユニゾンのコーラスもとっても楽しめます。Hot Rod Roadstarはレコードと別テイク。アネットが１曲だけなのは悔しいがこれも初ＣＤ化で、艶のある素晴らしいヴォーカルで手に入れるしかない。　ライナーも詳しく充実。各グループの説明からDonna Lorenがビキニを断った等エピソードも満載。品切れになる前に絶対入手の逸品です。
