It's the perfect size! So small and handy to put in most bags, practical! The shiny film is coated on the inside of the umbrella, you can see how minimal the amount of light that goes through the fabric so I reckon this would work well to shield one from the sun. When I first got it out of the package, the handle knob dropped off. It just wasn't screwed on properly and was easily put back in order. But it gave the first impression of not being that well made. Given the price point though, I didn't mind it that much. I'll see how it would work in the long run as it's just arrived today.

Have owned this for less than on rainy season and can say avoid this umbrella.While folding it up last week, one of the joints would not bend. Without applying hard force, tried to get the umbrella to close and the joint snapped.Don't expect great quality from a cheap umbrella but this is not acceptable. Avoid this brand and look elsewhere.

This is an inexpensive umbrella and it looks and feels like one. Does not hold up well in light wind or rain. A more appropriate use for this would be to use it "maybe" on a sunny day to keep the sun from beating down on you. Not appropriate for a true rain umbrella. I would not recommend this item.

I bought this for a week-long trip to Vancouver. It started raining on day three so I opened my new umbrella for the first time. Five minutes later I looked down and the base had fallen off the bottom of the pole. It’s still workable, but obviously I cannot recommend a product that falls apart immediately. Really disappointing.

This thing is too delicate. Nice and compact, but open it once and you realize just how flimsy it is. It won't fully lock open. This is at best a "use it one and then throw it away" item. Buy something else.

Its a small and very portable umbrella if you are looking to keep one in your car, back pack or anyplace else where size is the main concern. It may keep you dry from the parking lot to the front door a couple times. Count on it turning inside out like a Wile-E-Coyote cartoon with just the slightest breeze so its not ideal for anything other than the occasional emergency use.

Great small portable umbrella that fits easily in a purse/back pack. This was a stocking stuffer for my wife and she now keeps it in her purse and it has been awesome for portability.

So I purchased this umbrella for my trip to London. I wanted something lightweight and small enough to fit in my little backpack. However, this umbrella broke the first day I used it. Furthermore it was not windproof at all and kept turning inside out, which was really annoying. I was pretty disappointed with this product and expected better.
