Replacement laser tube
I ordered this replacement tube because I needed one and this was the best price I could find but I was worried about quality but once received and installed I had no more worries about quality as it preformed flawlessly. There was clear instructions included that made installing it an ease.

Tube arrived defective
The media could not be loaded. I installed this laser tube and a new Power Supply Unit (PSU) at the same time. The laser tube would fire, but not fire at full strength. (See the old and new Power vs Speed charts photo) A brand new laser tube should easily be able to cut through 3mm Baltic Birch plywood using the settings you see on the left. As you can see in the chart on the right, even at 100% Power and 14% Speed, the laser could not cut through. Then I noticed that when the laser ran, it would start flickering after a few seconds. The positive terminal of the laser operates at extremely high voltage (~20,000 Volts). I was worried that maybe the electricity was short circuiting to the case at some point along the wire. That's why I coated the wire connection point AND the terminal of the laser with thick globs of silicone (Please see photo of laser inside.) I also placed a sheet of plexiglass between the laser tube and the metal case. (plexiglass has higher electrical resistance than air) Still, the laser was flickering when it ran. Finally, I tried running the laser in the dark. As you can see from the flashing light in the video, at the positive end of the laser tube something is short circuiting. The flash is happening inside the tube. I know it's not happening at the far side of the tube because there's a sheet of plexiglass between the tube and the wall, and the plexiglass shows no sign of damage. Therefore no electricity is going through it, therefore the short circuit is in the tube.Plus I've tried the machine with 2 other working PSUs and they did not fix the problem. Therefore, again, the problem is this tube.Since the short circuit is inside the laser tube, the laser tube itself is defective. I would like to request a new, fully functional tube be sent to me.

Dropped into Full Spectrum Hobby Gen 5 No Problem
This dropped in to replace my 40W bulb on my Full Spectrum Laser Hobby 5th Gen. It's working great. I would love to know how many mA to get the most efficient use, but I can't find that information. It was easy to replace the old bulb and is working great.

Nice quality tube, easy to install, well-packaged.
I needed to replace a weak tube in my K40, and went with this over some slightly lower-priced options based on the reviews and product rating. I'm very happy with it. I did a bit of an overhaul to my machine while I had the tube out, new lights, water cooling loop, new bed, mirrors, fume extraction, and lens. It's running better than it ever has. This tube is outputting excellent power. It arrived very well-packaged in double boxes, with lots of foam. No issues with packaging whatsoever. I think what I appreciated the most though is that it comes with pole leads already attached. I picked up slicone in advance, and was really relieved to not have to use it to secure the leads to each pole post. I was dreading that. I'm sure I'd make a mess of that. I simply cut back the wiring soldered in the new leads that were already attached, slipped on my hoses and I was up and running. I don't know if I had a junk tube from the start or what, but the power from this tube/setup is significantly better than when I got the machine brand new. I hope this tube lasts me a long time, but as of right now I can say that I would buy this again, and recommend it to any K40 owner out there who's on the fence about whether this tube is worth the $20 or whatever they might be able to save elsewhere. You'll get a good tube with pole leads installed that is well-packaged in just a few days time.

Installed leads makes install a breeze
So thankful for the installed leads on the ends. My laser was quickly back up and running. I also think that the packaging was excellent, so that I didn't have to worry about it arriving broken. Hopefully, I will not need another tube any time soon, but if I do - I will order here. Note to laser hobbyists - My laser was by a window, and vented out. My laser froze during a deep freeze and broke. If you have your laser conveniently vented by a window, make sure your laser tube does not freeze!!

Short Circuit
I've tried isolating the short coming off the positive lead of the tube but like the other reviewer mentioned I believe it is inside the tube itself.

Great laser tube
I was amazed at how well this laser tube was packed , large box with two other boxes inside , lots of padding .The glass laser tube worked perfect with no problems and good power . Will be ordering a second tube from this seller as a backup .

Perfect replacement Orion K40
I bought an Orion K40 (the red/white one) awhile back on Amazon and the tube went out. I wanted to buy from Amazon since shipping was a lot quicker even though I could have gotten it cheaper off eBay. It arrived in 2 days and it is very well packaged with padding in the shipping box and also inside of the box for the tube (it comes double boxed). No issues with installing it either - I ended up switching to the high voltage connectors to make it easier for next time. Would gladly buy this tube again.
