Great book about it's okay to be different
I read this book when I was very little and didn't even realize that it was talking about that it is okay to be different than everyone else. And that you can go out of your way or should go out of your way to not be like everyone else. I literally have bought this for my new grandbaby, my future grandbaby and my best friends new grandbaby. It's an amazing book

delightful beginning reader
Mr. Pine's Purple House is a delightful book about discovering differences and creating his own identity among the sameness of a row of all white houses. After other attempts at change, i.e. bushes and trees, he finally decides to paint his house purple! With great illustrations, including mishaps of painting, children may see the unique opportunities for themselves. My only complaint is the references to blue and red and green and yellow houses in the row, but none of the houses in the illustrations are those colors! They all are still white with one purple house. A set of markers solves the problem!Great book for early readers!

So, I painted my house purple...
And a guy at the bar goes, "hey, you painted your house purple! You know, my favorite book when I was a kid was Mr. Pine's Purple House!". See, now, I've got nieces, and I've got oh about a dozen friends with kids the same age as my nieces. I buy books for them all about in bulk. This one's a charmer, with a fun story and an excellent lesson about the virtues of iconoclasm. I've bought at least a dozen of these for the 3-to-7's in my life.

Darling story and cute illustrations!
This order came quickly! I ordered this for my 5 year old granddaughter and she loved it! Purple is her favorite color and she asks to have that book read nightly!

A Fun and Enjoyable Childrens Book
I remember Mr. Pine's Purple House from when I was a kid. It was one of my favorites then and I still really like it. I now read it to my 4 year old who loves it. He like the parts about the cat running up the ladder and Mr. Pine falling down and the paint getting all over the cat and dog as well as the baseball hitting Mr. Pine in the head which causes another falling incident. The main point of the book is to teach kids about individuality and how it is OK for each of us to express our uniqueness (like having a purple house) and that we do not all have to be the same. The only bad thing about the book is that except for the color purple every page inside is just black and white. I do not remember that from when I was a kid so maybe it is not a big deal to children. But I plan on pulling out my color pencils and adding some other colors to my copy. With an older child you could have them help with the coloring which would be lots of fun for them.In short I think this is a fun and enjoyable book for kids to read and it teaches an important message.

Favorite book from childhood!
This book had such an impact on me during my childhood. I just loved it! I have referred to it so many times when talking to family and friends about real life situations, but no one was familiar with the book. So I randomly ordered myself a new copy of the book just to have. It’s a very easy read and has a great, positive message.

Mr. Pine's Purple House a must!
Our family has liked Mr. Pine's Purple House since our children were young. We got to talking about it when an all-white house went up in our neighborhood, which we think is so plain. Our 52-year-old son said, "Remember Mr. Pine's Purple House? Mr. Pine thought so too." We immediately wondered what had happened to our book, but saw that Amazon had it. We sent for it immediately and when it came, laughed and enjoyed the cute story of Mr. Pine encouraging neighbors to use their imaginations and enjoy their own ideas of expression. We will treasure it along with many old favorites in our now grandchildren's library.

A treasure to hold
I’m impressed with the quality feel of this book. A lot of care and attention was put into this re-release and it shows. If you are looking for a “tried & tested” nostalgic tool to help your own little ones learn to read, look no further.
