Pentair MasterTemp Propane Gas Heater (125,000 BTU)

We heat a 25,000 gallon pool and it does it easily. All our plumbing was 1 1/2" and the model 250 is 2" so we tried this one and love it. The only problem we've had is the plastic header that has the 2 unions on it cracked from starting our pump. The surge or water hammer made a hairline crack that drips. I plumbed it with a bypass now and add it while running. Its very efficient and heats my pool from 55 degrees to 84 degrees on spring startup in 3 days. its effortless after that to maintain.

Please learn from my mistakes. I had this pool heater installed 10/2019 professionally I checked my pool chemistry twice a week and rarely did I need to make adjustment. Occasionally I will shock after it rains. After 12 months the heater started leaking from multiple areas of the heat exchanger. I sent my purchase receipt and letter from my installer for a warranty claim. I also sent pictures. From the start of my conversations I could tell Pentair had no interest in replacing or repairing the heater. There was some rust in the copper pipes and the rep said this was clearly chemical damage, not covered by warranty. This is probably why many pool heaters are nickel coated to prevent erosion/corrosion. The customer service rep did not call back when he said he would to further discuss. They don’t care about your side of the story. They are looking for any excuse not to replace a defective productive.
