AN EXCELLENT GUIDE FOR FUNCTIONAL USE OF IPHOTO
Having used iPhoto for a few years with much frustration and disorganization I decided to use this guide for organizing 2,000 new photos from 2 different cameras used on a recent trip. Though I didn't read it cover-to-cover the guide made it very easy to look up specific issues and features. Like the other Que guides it offers detailed but not complicated explanations, an extensive table of contents and complete index. There are clear, color photos of examples for each technique and procedure presented. Every aspect of iPhoto is comprehensively covered and can be addressed independently, though the author cross-references so that the relationship between features is easily understood. iPhoto's editing capabilities go beyond my prior experience with the app and I was delighted to be able to utilize the histogram and other features instantly from the guide. I had been using other apps for editing and this is so much easier to use for on-the-spot, basic photo enhancements. I am concerned about what the new "Photos" app will mean for continuity and transitioning from iPhoto to Photos, especially for storing photos locally on my Mac at the highest resolution for editing. Rumors abound so it will be interesting to see what Apple does with this. iPhotos is now making sense to me!

My iPhoto - provides great step-by-step details
As a user of Apple’s “iPhoto” software for several years, in its previous versions as well as the current v. 9.5, I still found this book to be helpful in filling in the details that I had either overlooked or hadn’t bothered using. It provides enough information for beginning users to import, organize and edit their photos. For more experienced users, there are advanced editing tricks, descriptions of several different ways to share photos digitally, and instructions for creating photo albums, books, cards calendars and slideshows.Blue highlighted sidebars on many pages give numbered lists of step-by-step details for the numerous procedures available within the iPhoto app. Colorful photos of screen shots are included to illustrate each procedure and numbers targeting items in the photos provide links to the steps in the lists. When I wanted to learn more about a specific iPhoto procedure (e.g., comparing two or more photos), I found it easy to locate the topic in the Table of Contents or in the Index and then go directly to the pages that succinctly gave the instructions to follow.I highly recommend this paperback book and have already dog-eared several pages that describe techniques with which I am currently experimenting. I’m wondering, however, what changes in iPhoto may arrive with the future release of OS X Yosemite for the Mac and iOS 8 for the iPad and iPhone. Meanwhile, learning all one can about how the current iPhoto app works should give one a sound basis for mastering any future iPhoto apps.

Quite useful.
This is a quite useful book, better illustrated and cheaper than iPhoto the missing manual. Its only fault is that it assumes that you will only use your computer and therefore there is no information about exporting photos for printing or backup.

Bought it in April...then Apple introduced a comprehensive update calling it Photo...which was very different to iPhotoNow I wonder what to do ...as the new version has created for me lots of problems inc not being able to email photos from Photo? There isn't an update on instruction....should I be eligible for a refund or a new book when it is published in mid-June ??
