Patented, designed, and personally tested by an Orthodontist. Protruding braces prevent most other V-channel toothbrushes from adequately reaching the red, swollen gums and white spot areas because their bristles "float" on top of the braces. The design of the new Easy Braces Brush features "wells" which allow the braces to drop into these hollowed out areas, causing the soft, less densely-packed bristles to gently massage and clean food and bacterial plaque away from the problem areas FIRST, with less conscious effort due to the smarter design. Fresher breath and better oral hygiene around braces is EASIER because the braces are no longer inhibiting the bristles from reaching the gums and white spot areas. After normal brushing, the Easy Braces Brush is then flipped 90 degrees to clean under the orthodontic archwire = no more excuses for lost proxa brushes! DuPont Tynex bristles, end rounded and sapphire polished, FDA approved materials.

A Shorter-Bristled, Truly Soft Version of this Brush Would be a Stand-Out Product
This brush is a good example of a product that resulted from a good idea which was poorly executed. The good idea was to manufacture a brush specifically made for brushing one's teeth when one wears braces, by producing a brush with longer bristles spaced at a bracket's width around shorter bristles--such that the customer can simultaneously brush the teeth and the braces' brackets. However, there are a couple of fairly important flaws with how the brush actually ended up getting manufactured.First, the bristles are way too firm. Overly stiff bristles are a no-no for any of us. Dentists recommend patients brush with only a soft bristled brush. Overly stiff bristles, especially for braces wearers, who must brush their teeth multiple times a day, will wear away tooth enamel which leads of course to a lack of structural integrity of the teeth and increases the risk of sensitivity.Second, the longer bristles (the bristles that are supposed to come into contact with the teeth) are too, too long. This means the user will be tempted to press down harder than is safe to do, in an attempt to bring the shorter, center bristles in contact with the braces bracket. With bristles this stiff, pressing down hard is a really, really bad idea.I keep this Easy Braces Brush in my toothbrush holder along with a couple of other more sensible brushes and use it only about once every five brushings or so, and then only briefly and very, very gently. What a shame. This could have been such a great product.Disclaimer: to be fair, my review criticizes the brush for how it damages my teeth based on my using it in a way it was not intended to be used. The instructions on the package explain that the way the user is supposed to use this brush is by angling it with the bristle tips facing the ceiling when brushing the teeth of the lower jaw and with the bristle tips facing the floor when brushing the teeth of the upper jaw. I do use the brush a tiny bit like that, even though getting it angled "correctly" as intended is extremely difficult, and only for the front-most, most easily reachable teeth. Using the brush the way the manufacturer intended doesn't really brush one's teeth, but just dislodges food from the braces and/or, if one is not super-careful, dislodges bracket doors out of position or loosens brackets to come un-glued from the teeth.

Gets the job done faster
My son liked this - he said he can reach all his gums and it really speeded up the chore of brushing teeth with braces.

We ordered these twice. They were a big help to my daughter and her braces. But, it's still a good idea to have cleanings every 3 months instead of every 6.
