Chefmaster 13-Inch Smokeless Stovetop Barbecue Grill

This is a Great Stovetop Grill! I regularly enjoy Kalbi (grilled korean short ribs) and this grill enables me to make the Kalbi any time I like with no outdoor fuss. Skeptical at first (I just couldn't imagine it producing the high heat necessary for grilling), my first efforts resulted in OVERCOOKED meat! Now I use it with the same timing awareness as an outdoor charcoal grill. With the stove burner set at just medium heat, it grills meat in just minutes. Don't worry about cleanup. The surface is not really "non-stick." How could it be at that high heat? Scrape the surface just like you would an outdoor grill. It cleans up fine, though it appears marred or pitted. Same as your outdoor grill. I think it performs better with use. One thing. It fits over just one stovetop burner. Fine for just one piece of meat. I'm buying a second one TODAY to have on hand when grilling for guests. Another thing. You cannot beat the price. It grills better than my $200 hotshot gas grill.

I blame myself. I should have thought this purchase through, i.e. how this could possibly work and what the result might be. If I had, I wouldn't have wasted almost $13 buying this ridiculous imitation of a grill. I live on the second floor of an an apartment building where grills are not allowed. I longed for that bbq taste. I looked at the photo and the price and decided to give this product a try. It was late and I didn't really the description and the reviews thoroughly. Ask yourself how they accomplish the stripes on the meat in the photo. No, I'll save you the time and explain. You put the bottom part of unit on your stove. It's a ring. You put water in it. Then you put the slotted top on it and add your meat. The meat gets striping because it is part steamed and part fried. The fried part is brown and the steamed part is light. Nice contrast. Not such a great taste. Further, if you cook a steak, the fat doesn't turn brown. So, you end up with a partly steamed, partly fried steak with blubber hanging off. Yum. The unit is in the trash and I am out $13.

It's a great alternative to outside grill when you're not allowed to use one outside. It's not completely smokeless though, and I need to crank up the stove to the max to get some of those markings shown on the picture:). When I clean it with a sponge scrape some of the paint comes off too, but doesn't look significantly damaged yet. I've only used it twice so far though. The food tastes pretty much the same as on a regular grill, except of course for the extra smoky flavor given by the wood:).

I was really looking for a nonstick, stovetop grill and this seemed to fit the bill! The first couple of times it worked well, but then the nonstick started to wear off. I still use it on medium heat, well oiled. Still like the idea of a stovetop grill, but maybe a cast iron, or something made by Circulon will definitely work better!

I read all the reviews and the problems that folks have had with this item, but I have to admit, I have had none of those. Yes, I gave it 4 stars as the finish tarnishes quickly, but the grill works exactly as described with just a mist of olive oil or vegetable oil. I've used it now 7 times and the grease drops into the ring of water and no smoke, but you do have to keep the ring full of water. I love the smell, on those days of rain or cold when my old bones are too hurting or too lazy to fire up the outdoor grill, and the taste of grilled food. If you treat it as the instructions tell you, you won't have all the issues the good folks have written here about. About medium heat works perfectly well for us. Who cares about grill marks? We just love the taste and all our friends love it too. Relax and enjoy it and use it like it's designed to be used. ColGilly

Bought this stovetop grill a couple of weeks ago and have used it three times already for aprox. 0.75 pound size flap meat. It's not 100% smokeless, my kitchen was filled with smoke and didn't see much of anything dripping into the water. The grill is very thin and starts to shrink if too much heat is applied. After you have the temperature down, it moves a little (not very steady) but cooks meat very well and the flavor is somewhere between the flat iron and the gas bbq.Not worth the fuss. Went ahead and bought a tabletop gas bbq to see if it works better for my needs. Let you know when I get it. Wouldn't buy it again or recommend it.

This product really allowed me to use a grill all winter! Makes nice grill marks on your food. No excess smoke in the house, and fits right on your stovetop. It was very easy to use for me, and easy to clean. I made chicken, steak and fish so far and all have come out great! If you're looking for a grill feel indoors, then this is the perfect product for you! It's affordable and works great! *I was given this product to sample and provide an honest review.

very bad , non worthy , it is not at all as explained , it is leaking from round and making smoke , i want to return it .

Very poor quality. I followed the instructions to a T, but the alleged non stick coating came off in patches in just one use when the product was washed gently. It wasn't scrubbed hard, but still the coating came off in bits.

The item was not well described. Cast metal was described but it was not cast but only a thin sheet metal with poor heat retention plus it is not non stick as described.
