Max Talks to Me (Sit! Stay! Read!) Hardcover – April 1, 2007

WOW! I cannot say enough good things about this special book! <3 I am a humane educator, with my dogs, Mayor Puppypants and Kermit the Dog. We teach kids kindness to animals and look for only the BEST materials to teach all aspects of animal care and kindness. I haven't seen anything like this before. It's a foray into animal communication, something which I am learning as an adult on a deeper level. For kids to understand that pet parenting is a MUTUAL relationship, is essential to their being good pet parents/siblings. Thank you!! Facebook/MayorPuppypants :)

I use this in my Animals & Empathy sessions with elementary students... the best book for introducing children to canine body language, communication, and relationships. Beautifully illustrated, providing much visual information for students to "read," interpret and discuss!

This is an excellent book which teaches children how to learn to read dog body language and non verbal communication. Wonderful illustrations.

The illustrations are retro but the message is timeless. Will us for pet therapy with abused and neglected children but is great for all dog lovers.

While not a story with a plot per se, the book does a great job of depicting the relationship between the boy and his dog Max. I especially like the focus on the emotional connection between them when the boy is sad or lonely. It would be a great gift for any child whose family is getting a dog for the first time and is also wonderful for any dog-loving child. The illustrations detract a bit in a few places but do manage to show the closeness between the boy and his dog.

Mu kids love this book, its warm and builds a great bond with our kids and dog. Leads ongoing discussion afterwards as well.

Good book!

This is a great children's book for Humane Education in schools. Highly Rec this book if you are interested in breaking the cycle of animal mistreatment.
