Pure and utter garbage. To be completely honest, I would give this zero stars if possible.Initial build quality seemed great but after taking the time to run the harness and hook it up based on the provided instructions, only the running lights worked. The brake and turn signal wires were not as the instructions stated.I checked all the relays and fuses in my truck: good to go. Checked the brake controller: good to go. I grabbed my DVOM(digital voltage/ohm meter) and started checking outputs Checked output at the 7 pin connector at the hitch: good to go. Checked wiring according to instructions: not good to go. No voltage for electric brakes through harness!! Colors were swapped so I figured out how to get the lights to work at the very least but not the trailer brakes, which was the real reason for getting this harness.I compared the colors to other reviews and found some similarities in complaints.If the connector came apart, I would just re-pin them but now I'm stuck using a cobbled together setup until I can get a replacement harness that ACTUALLY WORKS.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME on this harness. Buy a quality harness that has the correct colors and matches universal trailer/RV wiring diagrams. Troubleshooting is much easier if everything is where it should be...I'll most likely build my own trailer harness after getting a replacement for this one and connecting it to my junction box.What a way to ruin an afternoon of nice weather by screwing around with this massive turd of a product.Buy at your own peril. Or better yet, don't buy this piece of crap and get a quality harness from a reputable seller. I ordered my replacement parts from e-trailer.com.

I ordered this because of the molded plug/ wire combination. it included a detailed instruction sheet that had a color diagram for wires and plug and appeared to follow standard truck/ trailer colors and plug terminal locations. Piece a cake right ???? WRONG ! The colored wires do not follow truck/trailer standards or even the diagram instructions included. White wire was -Ground. Blue wire was +brakes. Yellow was reverse lights. Green was running lights. Brown was left turn. Black was +Battery. Red was right turn. I called the phone number that came with instructions, got a answering machine. Did receive a call back, and the person explained in broken English that there are lots of different "wire color and plug configurations out there". That's rubbish, we're in United States, where there is a standard. Nice cord and molded plug, but check colors!!!! Wired incorrectly could be very unsafe !

I like this harness, and it works well, but the wire colors are weird.I bought this to rewire a 16' flatbed car hauler with electric brakes. The factory wiring was junk, and I wanted to get something that would last. I feel like this harness is going to hold up well. The plug seems well made and fits tightly into the socket on my truck. The insulation on the harness is very thick and seems to be sturdy. The wires themselves are of the proper gauge and are also well insulated. My only gripe with this is that the color of the wires is not the same as any trailer harness I have ever seen before. I know that there is no universally accepted standard for wire colors, but these are more unusual than others. Left/Right/Tail are Yellow/Green/Brown as expected, Ground is White (not ideal, but not unusual), Brake is Red, Reverse is Blue, and Aux Power is Black. At a minimum I would have made Brake blue. This is not a big issue, but you have to take special care when wiring this harness to get everything connected right, and when troubleshooting, remember that the wire color at the front of the trailer might not match the back end.

I ordered this to rewire a horse trailer after the old connector fell apart and the internal screws were completely corroded. There are a few things about this that I really liked, First off the connector is molded together, not screwed with a center section that has screw terminals. This feels much more solid the the screw together type.The second thing is that it has two contacts per spade. Most connectors have a single contact which counts on the vehicle having enough spring in the spades to make a good connection, this cable has some spring to the terminals as well to make up for an older vehicle connector.I read some reviews that people had issues with the color coding, my cable came with a color coded list that I followed which was the same as my trailer already but either way I would have followed the included color/terminal list.

I ordered this as a replacement for a damaged cord on my son's 16' cargo trailer. I heartily agree with the high number of other reviewers as to the ample sized wire and heavy duty outer rubber covering. I was aware of a potential problem with the wire color code for electric brakes (blue is generally universal) and as other reviewers have pointed out, Conntek decides to use the red wire instead. There is a lighter shade blue wire, but it is a lighter gauge and I believe this is the feed for reverse or backup lights on the trailer or if your trailer uses the "surge" style braking rather than traditional braking from the truck system or from the brake controller output. In that type system, current from the reverse switch can be used to "override" the surge system while actually backing the trailer.To save yourself some time, go ahead and tie the trailer brake wire to the red wire on this plug and you should be good to go. Because the male plug on the other end is moulded, you cannot verify what pole is wired to what color. Just so you know, all other colors are correct. All in all I am very pleased with this product and would not hesitate to order again if a need arises.

Very good wiring BUT.....I've pulled wrenchs for 20 years. Worked on many trucks and trailers. Went to color code the wiring in the junction box to find out the color code I am aware of is completly different. Did some searching and found the is an RV color code wireing and then their is a north america standard color code. Just a little dissappointed. I could have changed it all up in my junction box but did not feel like doing that in case I hqve to repair something on the side of the road in the future. I ended up just cutting the molded plug off and replace it with another one and coded the wiring that I'm familure with. Just took me by surpise that after 20 years of wrenching and talking to my mechanics in the shop that we all never came across this. Removed 1 star just because it was not in the detail at time of purchase.

The cable arrived quickly and initially looked like a good quality part. Unfortunately once the cable was installed in accordance with the cable colours it was discovered the harness connections in the plug had been incorrectly assembled. Due to the sealed plug the correct cable connections did not align with the correct colours. Save your money and build your own this thing I would have sent back but I had already installed connectors. Had I not checked the connections it could have damaged my trailer brake controller.

There are different wirings out there depending on whether you have a travel trailer or cargo trailer. I believe there is a 3rd one too but can't remember what type of trailer it's for. You will notice from reviews of these types of cords of people complaining the wiring didn't match their truck. That's because they didn't enquire as to what type of wiring it was for. This one IS FOR RVs. The cover material is super strong and durable. I wired it to my RV without any problems. The various gauges are of good quality wire. You won't be disappointed with this one...

Seems to be great quality. Wires were true to size and product worked as it should. Other reviews saying wired incorrectly but if you take 5 mins with a voltmeter to double check what wires are for what function it’s an easy install. Most of the time I find the trailer wire splice box has incorrectly labelled wires anyways.

Excellent product, great choices in length. Upgraded my current trailers 4pin system to this 7pin and it was an easy process.
