S Video to HDMI up-converter
Works as stated, very high quiality construction. It does an up-conversion of my DVD's to 1080P and then passes it over to my new 4K TV. Very happy with the results.

Surprising Performance for Retro Video Game Consoles
I was initially skeptical of this device working well for my use case. These types of converters often do a pretty bad job retaining image quality and introduce a ton of input lag, but I was desperate for a cost-effective Plug-N-Play solution so I thought I would try it.Before I share my thoughts, please note—I only use this device to hook up my N64 to a more modern TV. I did test it with a few other consoles to make sure it would work, but I only turned them on to make sure it properly displayed an image—I didn’t play long enough on every console to make sure that it ran well. If you run a setup different than mine, your mileage may vary. With my N64, I got a cable that had S-Video and tried both the RCA Composite and S-Video inputs. The S-Video signal is far superior and is definitely the way to go. With that said, this device does NOT make the image better quality than what you put into it or improve the image in any way. I am also certain that this device adds input lag, however, I struggled to feel a significant difference from when I had the system plugged in directly to the TV. If you are a pro, speed runner, or someone who is sensitive to input lag you might feel this more than I do. But, if I am being honest, this device exceeded my expectations in that regard. For picture quality, it is worth noting that the red tones a just a bit over blown when using this converter. This is made worse when using composite cables, so I would highly recommend getting an N64 AV cable that utilizes S-Video if you choose to go this route. Also, the 720p/1080p options are nice to have, but one or the other may not work depending on the device you are trying to run.Final thoughts:Build Quality: 4.5/5 - Sturdy Aluminum case and nice LED indicator lights and switches.Ease of Use: 5/5 - very easy set-up.Picture Quality: 3.5/5 - it doesn’t improve the image in any way, and the red is a bit over blown.Input Lag: 3/5 - it does add lag, but it doesn’t feel as intrusive as other devices I have tried at this price point.Additional Features: 4/5 - this device has some extra features that many other devices at this price point lack.I will be pairing this with an HDMI upscaler to see if I can get even better results. Stay tuned!

S Video Cable provides a slightly better picture than composite cable does
This was easy to use and has easy to understand directions. One of previous reviews that I reviewed stated that you can't tell if you are in S-Video mode or composite and if you are using 720P or 1080 P. These setting both display on the screen of the TV so that you do know what mode that the device is in. (This device is being used to convert a signal from a VHS tape player to a Sony 49" Bravia 950 TV that only has HDMI inputs available. Works very well.

Does what it says
For items like these it’s sometimes a toss up on whether it will work well or not. Thankfully I can confirm this does for my PS2 plugged into a modern gaming monitor. It can display ps1 & ps2 games correctly. And it doesn’t have that green screen display bug when playing the dvd player. There is some graininess on the display, but considering it’s an rca cable connection it’s probably the best it can do.

Easy enough to hook up. It just doesn't work.
I purchased the Svideo/RCA to HDMI converter to hook up from my OLD non-HDMI dvd player to my new HDMI input only tv Nov 29th. I just hooked it to my OLD tv first to make sure it would work before I attached to my new $1700 tv that was installed yesterday...just being cautious. Its easy enough to hook up but all I get on my OLD tv is the movie image in green/yellow and no audio coming through. The 720/1080 button works ok on the new converter and the CVBS button works too. So I removed the converter and plugged the RCA cables from my non-HDMI dvd player directly to the RCA connections on my OLD tv and the audio and video both work fine, so the old tv is ok. I did not receive a manual with the new converter so I'm wondering if this unit might have been a defective return that got shipped to me. I bought this item over 30 days ago so per their info it's not returnable.

This product works great!!!
This product converts the old DVD or VCR signal (from you old player) to a digital signal that will play on a modern smart TV.

Not bad for the money spent
I recently upgraded my HT system and, as with most of today's AV receivers, there is no S-Video input. This device bridges the gap. Just don't expect the video quality to match what your HD display can do with HD content be it 1080P or 4K. I had originally decided to withdraw my old Pioneer Laser Disc player from the HT setup b/c the old, analog image looks pretty bad on an HD display - even my 17-year-old, 58 inch top of the line Panasonic Plasma TV - which still works like a champ. But I have an extensive LD collection - many of them never opened - so I decided to bring the LD player out of retirement. For comparison, I connected the LD player directly to my new AV receiver via a digital RCA video cable and a digital, optical audio cable. The sound was great, the picture was awful. I then put this device between the LD player and the AV receiver and tried various combinations to obtain the best picture quality. What I settled on is using the S-Video and the composite (RCA) audio outputs of the LD player into the device then an HDMI cable out of the device into the AV receiver. For me, the 720P setting on the device provides the best picture. While not anywhere near what we are all used to seeing on today's modern displays, it is totally watchable and better than a direct connection between the LD player and AV receiver. So, was this device worth $40? IMHO, yes, it is. Just keep in mind you are trying to upconvert 30- to 40-year-old technology to modern day. There is only so much any device can do with that - regardless of the price point.
