A bug zapper, more formally called an electrical discharge insect control system, electric insect Killer or (insect) electrocutor trap, is a device that attracts And kills flying insects that are attracted by light. A light source attracts insects to an electrical grid, where they are electrocuted by touching two wires with a high voltage between them. Absolutely brilliant.
This is a Brilliant bit of kit it really does the job it’s supposed to,unlike others I have had in the past that just light up and look the part and do nothing. This product was easy to unpack and I had it up and running in five minutes, within a couple of hours it had rid the place of unwanted bugs although it does work better after dark, the higher positioned the better it works, price wise you can’t beat it.Be warned it can be very noisy

POOR QUALITY
THE FIRST ONE WE PURCHASED LASTED ABOUT 2 YEARS. THIS LAST ONE LASTED NO TIME AT ALL. STILL UNDER WARRANTY WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING, THEY DID REPLACE IT BUT THAT DID THE SAME . POOR QUALITY , WON'T BUY ANOTHER. DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO LET THEM KNOW AS THEY WOULD HAVE ONLY SENT A FURTHER POOR QUALITY SO COULDN'T SEE THE POINT.

Bin the fly swat.
This is a very competent product and does exactly what we wanted it for. We have all the doors and windows open and the files can't keep away. We have been using this for a week and there must be a big drop in the fly population now. I is a bit loud when files are elecruted and to begin with it made us jump. Recomended if you have a fly problem. We have ours on a window sill where the flies head for and unfortunately the windows don't open.

Works OK
Doesn't always kill larger flies - just stuns them over and over.

Short flex
Seems okay. Plug length is quite short so had to get an extension so I could place it high up! Have it hung on wall which looks quite untidy as it does not sit flat against it. Have switched on and all seems to be functioning. Only time will tell if it actually zaps those pesky bugs that come in my back door in the summer months.

A beast of a machine...
This insect killer is incredible :) Having had one previously where the tubes had blown I purchased new tubes and starters to no avail so had to purchase a new machine. Whilst this was a little more expensive than some of the others around it was more powerful so I decided to chance it. It is slightly larger than I first thought and didn't fit above my kitchen cupboards - my own fault for not checking the dimensions - so it's located on top of my American style fridge freezer. The first night it kicked out so much UV that all the bugs were attracted to the wall behind it and not to the unit itself, not to be deterred I blocked off the rear of the unit with some white card and the difference has been transformational, the bugs now go straight to the unit and bang, all over. The previous machine made a bit of a noise whilst finishing the bugs off but nothing compared to this one, I can even hear the zap from upstairs - even taking the photo above a bug landed on it and made me jump! Although I thought it a little expensive compared to others, it certainly works and the noise is very satisfying - if anything it's too powerful but I'd rather it was over powered than under. Can't comment on reliability (so have given the benefit with 5 stars) as only had it a few days but so far very impressed!

Stuns, doesn't kill regular houseflies
Set this up in my kitchen to test. During daylight houseflies generally ignored it (we have rooflights, so possibly down to relative brightness). But once dusk came and I dimmed the lights, I heard some fairly loud cracks, expecting flies were finally being zapped. After a few, I went to check and three houseflies were in the collection tray. Each walking around, sometimes sideways and clearly stunned, but very much alive. After 10 minutes or so, they'd all flown off.Plugged into a standard UK wall power outlet. I wasn't going to return this, even if it was slow at attracting flies. But given it doesn't kill them (0 out of 3 failure rate on initial test), this will have to go back.Sorry guys, look elsewhere.

THe plug is dangerous and badly made.
Product arrived and was plugged in and began to work. The next day we decided to move it to a new location. When I attempted to remove the plug from the wall socket, the out socket cover came off in my hand exposing the inner wiring of the plug. The screw seat which holds the two parts of the plug together had split in half. Extremely poor and dangerous. Am very disappointed!
