Worth $10, but definitively not $50
After reading through about half of this it's clear that the ambition with this text was not to write a book. It looks more like the memo/lecture-notes for a course dealing with RCP. There are very few actual explanations, some blatant omissions and/or "wormhole" jumps from one thing to another (i.e. there is some progression of concepts underlying the jump, but nowhere is it explained).A lot of the pages/text is actually not much more than dumps of dialogues with accompanying text stating little more than the obvious. Also the English is often lacking, sometimes seriously.I'm sure Lars Vogel gives good courses on Eclipse subjects. Judging by this text he needs a partner when writing books, and should stay away from self-publishing.Ass I see it the Kindle version that I bought is worth it's odd $10 as a list of things to do when exploring RCPs on your own. There are also some nice lists of common causes to common problems. I definitively discourage buying this as a printed book costing something like $50. ($50 usually pays for a good to excellent text book from e.g. APress or one in O'Reillys "white animal series".

The book itself is far from perfect. Many examples/Exercises can not followed
The book itself is far from perfect. Many examples/Exercises can not followed. The author is used to publish many good quality Eclipse tutorials. His older tutorial articles are much better than the new ones. The latest tutorials are hard to follow too. But they can be viewed as an update of this book. Too bad the older tutorials can not be found from the internet.

There are cases he did not explain in detail steps leading to confusion and waste time to figure out
Since I am using the latest version of eclipse, its tab names are different from the book. There are cases he did not explain in detail steps leading to confusion and waste time to figure out. Otherwise, it is good.

Exercises can't be followed...options do not exist
I am returning the book because the example exercises can not be followed. Does anyone edit technical books? So many mistakes and completely worthless.

Kindle formatting problems cut off important text
Disclaimer, I haven't gotten very far through this book -- the content might be fabulous. But it is hard to know because the Kindle edition cuts of a substantial amount of text any time there is more than one column of text. It is pretty hard to get through a page when a third or more of the content can't even be viewed. Fiddling with font size, page width doesn't help.

Needs to be rearranged and improved for its next edition.
This is a very big book and there is a lot of useful bits of information if you are patient to read through every page. However, it is niether a reference book nor an incremental tutorial (at least not the first 100 pages that I have read so far). So after 100 pages when I read a paragraph I am still not sure why the information is being presented and how it relate to what. The screenshots are a great help and form a large part of the book but again they are more like disconnected bits of information which may or may not make sense in a larger context. If the next edition addresses this it'll be a great book.

Out of date and useless for purpose..
This book is completely out of date and there have been many changes in Eclipse since it was published in early 2015. For example, the very first example project under para 16.2 has screen shots showing details that no longer exist in Eclipse so one has to guess what to do next and then it didn't work. This is an electronic book and Lars Vogel, being the expert that he is, should update this book at least yearly. I am sadly disillusioned that this book was allowed to be sold by Amazon and that there is no way for me to get my money back. It is useless for purpose.

Great value for money (kindle version €5), definitely the best resource on the rich client platform I came across.

Ein genialer Überblick am Beispiel
Das Buch von Lars Vogel ist für mich wunderbar gelungen. Anhand von diversen kleineren und einem durchgehenden Beispiel erläutert der Autor die Neuerungen von Eclipse e4. V.a. hinsichtlich Dependency Injection lernt man dazu.
