Spear & Jackson 4732SY Little Giant Scythette Spare Blade

Made short work of my garden after a few months of neglect, reducing it all to length that I could even out with my manual mower. Makes for a very easy tidy up too as it all comes out as long bits rather than lots of tiny ones scattered everywhere. It doesn't come sharpened - you'll need to do this and keep it that way for optimum use, but if you do then this is a wonderful tool. If you dislike the idea of having to sharpen something then this is not the tool for you (seemingly the reason for others rating it poorly).

Looked good, wasnt, blade thick and blunt, wont sharpen. Better off chopping down the grass with a stick. Would have returned it but was a present and they said they would make do with it and try to sharpen it. Poor.

A standard fitment, length and angle for most pull scythes. Generic manufactured blade with "branded" paper sticker fitted. Arrives coated, well wrapped, but requires tools and work to add the cutting edge to be made before use. Ironic when it's protected by the sale of blades Law! Let's see how durable the edge is.

Despite it’s title, this scythette blade arrives in a blunt, unsharpened state. So be prepared to grind an edge on it and sharpen it yourself. If you know how to sharpen a blade, you can get this very sharp quite easily. But if you don’t own a grinder and a hone, and know how to use them, this blade is not for you. It’s not a bad bit of kit but the title ‘Razorsharp’’ is rather misleading.

l made my own shaft and handle so the blade cut at correct angle.lt works good

This tool comes with an unfinished blade so will need to be properly ground and sharpened. I spent some time doing this using a file and then a sharpening stone, the finished edge was razor sharp. I was sceptical on how well it would work but it made light work of my overgrown garden and even worked single handed. All the brush was cut at the base so raking after was much easier compared to a strimmer. The handle is very sturdy, stronger than expected, i imagine with careful maintenance each use and it should last a lifetime. I actually prefer using this tool for long overgrown brush to a brush cutter or strimmer it's just as quick and makes less mess. There is replacement blades available which is also great. I highly recommend

Not very good. It didn’t matter what way I tried to use it. No sharpness to blade at all. x

It is worthless. It didn't even try to cut the grass and weeds.

This is not fit for purpose and is far too lightweight to cut weeds without the blade bending. The ad describes it as suitable for cutting "brush" and weeds. It will for a short while , until the blade bends. Do not buy this item.
