You need to have some know how to install it like I did (which is better than manufactured)
With products like this you need to have some know how skills. My old unit was factory into the cover with a rivet gun. I didn't want to go that route due to the time it would take to pickup rivets that I would only end up using once. I drilled the holes in both my mower and the new unit to accommodate the new bolt and nut setup. Installed them reverse bolt sticking up from the bottom for the rotary clearance. I also replaced the new string with my old string. I finished cutting grass that day.....

Installation may not be so easy
The product is exactly as advertised but my older Toro mower had the starter cord assembly pop riveted to the top of the engine. Each of the four rivets had to be drilled out and all the shavings blown/vacuumed away so they wouldn't get into the engine. I also had to buy a larger pop rivet tool to install the new starter cord assembly.

Just like the original
In the world of "everything's reviewed", you're always going to find a dissatisfied customer. I learned with this product that you need to be wary of negative reivews, unless a product stands out via negative reviews.Truth is, this one works just like the old one. Could it fail prematurely. Well, so far so good, and it's been a summer's of use.

Plastic pieces
After part was installed, the part worked great...unfortunately after the 2nd use of this piece, it gets stuck and won’t help start the lawn mower. We have to jerk on the rope multiple times in hopes that the plastic fins will pop out and rotate the motor in order for the mower to start.

It fit perfectly and works great
other than the fact I had to drill out the 4 original rivets holding the old recoil starter in place, which is easy as pie. Then I re-riveted this new unit in place which took all of 4 minutes start to finish, I pulled the rope and absolutely nothing happened.... then I remembered- put the gas in and put the spark plug back in and then pull the rope and the mower fired right up.. works like a champ
