Easy to read and completely silent (if you don't like ticking, you'll like this clock!
I've seen some reviews that suggest the clock should be operated not on long-life alkaline batteries, but "regular" batteries (like we grew up with 50 years ago) -- carbon zinc batteries, as the accuracy of the clock is not as good with alkaline batteries. Well, I am pretty particular about time-keeping, and I have been running my clock on an alkaline battery, and for the few weeks I've had it I can say it is spot-on in keeping time. I don't know why the power from an alkaline battery would run the clock differently than a carbon zinc battery, but I don't know everything in the world about batteries. That said, if someone can explain what the difference between those batteries is, and I don't mean in longevity, but in steady voltage and amperage being delivered to the clock, well, I'd love to hear it, even though I don't think this is the proper forum for such a discussion, as this is just to write a review of the clock, and I say it's a great clock, great price, looks great, runs silently, and as far as I can see, is keeping perfectly good quartz timing with an alkaline batter (I mean, really, does a crystal of quartz care if it is being excited by X voltage coming from an alkaline battery or a carbon battery? Doesn't a quartz crystal oscillate at 32768 Hz, as long as its fed some current? The thing that actually kind of puzzles me, is that a ticking quartz clock is rather staighforrad to figure out how it works: The crystal beats at 32768 Hz, and a little computer counts those vibrations, and every time it adds up to 32768 it sends a pulse to the second hand, thus the tick sound. The the counter resets and starts counting again, and the next time it counts 32768 oscillations of the crystal, it sends another pulse to the second hand, and makes another tick. But this constantly moving second hand does present a bit of a challenge to me. Is it just a very accurate DC motor, perhaps adjusted from time to time by some quartz-driven algorithm. OK, if anyone is still with me here, this is the takeaway: It's a good-looking clock, easy to read, accurate and silent. So there.

Redefines "Quiet Time"
What's not to like about this gem? When I'm working in my home office on my computer and concentrating, I used to hate the "click click click" of my previous wall clock. This beauty is wonderful! The second hand just quietly "sweeps" with no sound. The clock is accurate. The manuafacturer even gives you the hint that a carbon zinc battery works better than alkaline for this clock. For $9.99 + tax, this is one of the bestbargains I've found in a long time. I'm going to get another one soon for the bathroom.

No tick tock thank goodness.
The clock arrived with the second hand loose inside the face, and hour/minute hands were slightly misaligned. These issues were easily resolved, but in this particular instance resolution was required. Ultimately the clock is now in service and is apparently accurate. It makes no sound which pleases me immensely. Easy to read from a distance in a large room. Great classic style numbers. Despite the minor inconvenience of proper hand installation it is overall a good purchase for the price.

This clock doesn’t keep time
This is an amended review. I bought the clock 9 months ago. My husband and I share an office/workroom. He needs quiet and took down my other clock. This is my replacement. It does not make any sound, thank goodness!BUT after a few months I noticed the time was incorrect. I blamed the battery, and replaced it with a new one. Last month the clock stopped completely. I replaced the battery once again. Less than a month later the clock is 15 minutes SLOW! USELESS! This time I am giving up. I will look for a better clock.

Doesn't work.
I bought 3 of these clocks, I had them replaced because it could not keep the time. I had the baterries changed twice which I should not have needed to do it twice. Within a week the time slows down. After receiving the replacement, I put new batteries in but as the 1st time, it would not keep the time. I tried to have it replaced yet again because I like the look and the quiet of the 2nd hand function but found out that the replacement would cost me an additional $2 because the seller have raised the price. Not worth attempting it a 3rd time so I have requested a refund and trying a different product from a different seller. I never write a review on items but realize reading these reviews helped me in making a decision in purchases so I have written this review for all to see. This is just what I had experienced and others may have had positive reviews. Again, it looks sleek and it's quiet but it just didn't work for me. Maybe it's because this clock don't like our Tropical Islands of Hawaii :0(

Very good, does its job
This is a good buy. It is simple design, nothing fancy at all. Easy to use. Accurate. It is not expensive as well!! Just get it if you need to. Can't really go wrong.

Surprise, it does what it claims!
Even though it was smaller than I was hoping, it is still very easy to read. We are using it in the community room of a senior citizens apartment building and I haven’t had any complaints (Which is a high recommendation)

Not dependable.
The clock looks nice, but the reason I am not overly pleased with it is that it stops running every three days ,( I installed a fresh Duracell battery ). I have to remove the battery and reinstall it and it will then run again for the next three days. I even tried it with a new Energizer battery with the same results. It did this from the day I got the clock and it still does this.I am getting tired of it and will be looking for a replacement.
